Benefit car wash

CHRISTIANSBURG - The Auburn High School varsity cheerleaders will hold a car wash Saturday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at Hardee's, Roanoke and First streets.

Donations will help to purchase new uniforms.

Prices Fork Fair

PRICES FORK - The 63rd Prices Fork Fair gets under way Saturday, 10 a.m. The day's schedule includes pet show judging at 10 a.m., a live radio broadcast by personalities from WKEX (1430 AM), 10 a.m.-1 p.m., a baby contest at 3 p.m., the Confederate Cloggers at 6 p.m. and music by the Flatridge Boys at 7 p.m.

The exhibit hall will be open Saturday, 1-9 p.m.

The fair is sponsored by Prices Fork Grange 786.

McGruff to visit

CHRISTIANSBURG - McGruff the Crime Dog will be on hand Saturday, Aug. 19, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., during a low-cost vision screening at the Eye Care Optometric Center, Old Town Mall.

Optometrists Becky Cook Mann and Scott Mann will offer vision screening for $1 for all children.

McGruff the Crime Dog appears courtesy of the Christiansburg Police Department, offering safety tips for kids and their families.
