The latest inconvenience - delays during the morning minirush to work Wednesday - may be the last in a highway headache that's lasted most of the summer.
David Clarke, assistant resident engineer for the state Department of Transportation, said Wednesday repairs should be completed no later than today after crews lay a smooth coat of asphalt.
Motorists encountered two bumps in eastbound lanes and two bumps in westbound lanes. The settling of backfill packed around culverts, installed beneath the highway last summer, can be blamed for the bumps.
Clarke said the bumps should be fixed, and the settling seems to have stopped.
