W&L ADDS AIDES TO COACHING STAFF

Washington and Lee has announced the hiring of four new assistant coaches.

Chris Budvitis has joined the staff as an assistant for water polo and men's and women's swimming. For the past two years, he served as a graduate assistant swimming coach at Delta State (Miss.) University.

The new men's basketball and baseball assistant is Jerry Jusianiec, a 1993 graduate of Elmira (N.Y.) College, where he played basketball under first-year Washington and Lee head coach Kevin Moore. He has worked as an assistant men's basketball coach and head junior varsity basketball coach at Potsdam (N.Y.) State for the past two years.

Tommy Laurendine will coach the quarterbacks and wide receivers for the Generals' football team. He coached at West Georgia College for three years and at Northwest (Ga.) High School last season.

W&L's new assistant coach in women's soccer and lacrosse is Liz Schaper, a 1995 graduate of Davidson College.

Also joining W&L's athletic staff is Carrie Docherty, a graduate student at Virginia who will work as an assistant trainer for the Generals.

In other college news:

Virginia has announced it no longer will accept single-game ticket orders for the Cavaliers' home football game against Duke on Oct.14.

Bobby Radford, the points leader in the Late Model Stock division, will be going after another victory Saturday in the Community Directory/Rapito Sales 300 at Franklin County Speedway.
