Henry St. Festival

The sixth annual Henry Street Heritage Festival will be held Sept. 30 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. at Elmwood Park, downtown Roanoke.

The event, presented by the Harrison Museum of African American Culture, showcases the heritage and culture of African Americans through performing and visual arts, children's activities, ethnic and traditional foods and gifts, apparel, jewelry and crafts.

The Harmabee Gala, a fund-raiser for future Heritage Festivals, will be held Sept. 29 from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Radisson Patrick Henry Hotel Ballroom. Tickets are $25 per person. Attire is African-influenced or black-tie. Tickets are available to the museum, 523 Harrison Ave., Roanoke, or at MAROHA, 3543 Shenandoah Ave., Roanoke.

Volunteers are needed to staff activities and programs.

Auto Show signup

Entries are being accepted for the Olde Salem Days Auto Show, to be held Sept. 9. The event is open to any vehicle made through 1975 and will feature antiques, motocycles, customs, modifieds, rods and street machines.

Trophies and awards will be presented.

Entry forms are available at Brooks-Lyrd Pharmacy and the College Avenue Texaco, both in Salem, and from the Salem Chamber of Commerce.
