ADAMS, Carl Maurice, 32, of Richmond, and formerly of Buchanan, passed away Monday, August 21, 1995, in Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Sr. and Ruth N. Adams, and one sister, Barbara Ryan. He is survived by five sisters, Maria McCleese of Spring Valley, N.Y., Teresa Williams of Detroit, Mich., Daisy Brown of Lyndhurst, Stephanie Adams of Detroit, Mich., Jacqueline Sims of Okinawa, Japan; four brothers, Robert H. Adams Jr. of Roanoke, Floyd Admas of Sciota, Pa., Quenton Adams of Bartonsville, Pa., Christopher Adams of Mt. Pocono, Pa.; close friend, Jennifer Rodrigues of Colonial Beach; special friends, George and Mary Broughton and Margie Clary, all of Richmond; several nieces and nephews; an d a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 1995, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Buchanan, Buchanan, Va., with the Rev. Randall Jackson and the Rev. Emmett Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Buchanan. A wake will be held at the Rader Funeral Home in Buchanan on Friday August 25, 1995, from 7 to 8 p.m. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home in Buchanan.

BURNETTE, Frank Linwood, (``Buck""), 68, of Goode, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 1995. Graveside services 11 a.m. Friday, Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.

CHRISTIANSON, Bernie, 58, of Salem, died Tuesday, August 22, 1995, of natural causes. He was a playwrite, producer and an accomplished musician. Bernie's musical career debut was in 1949 when he was invited to ""step up to the microphone to sing Galway Bay"" while visiting Don McNiell's Breakfast Club. After touring with the club, Bernie pursued a career with Amoco Corporation along with continuing in his musical career. After retirement in 1981 with Amoco, Bernie pursued a full time musical career in show business in S.W. Florida, including writing and producing the drama/musical ""Hey Lady"" in Port Charlotte, Fla. in 1984 and again in Clearwater, Fla. in 1987. He also wrote and produced a benefit show for F.A.C.E., and radio commercials. Bernie was a member of the A.S.C.A.P. and played for many private clubs in Florida. He is survived by two daughters, Julie R. and her husband, Rob Boucher, Dolores and her husband, Rick Lundgren, all of North Port, Fla.; two sons, Dave and his wife, Pam Christianson, and Mike and his wife, Tina Christianson, all of Salem; two sisters, Biddy Lehnert, Chicago, Ill., and Barbara Waigand, Florida; and seven grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 1995 in Tabernacle Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.

COUNTS, June Hicks, 67, of Wytheville, died Tuesday, August 22, 1995, in the Roanoke Memorial Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Atkins, the daughter of the late Carlisle Preston and Hattie Maye Halsey Hicks. She received her B.S. degree in business from Radford College and taught in the Smyth County School System and Wytheville Community College. She was a member of the American Association of University Women. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she served as a member of the Administrative Board, Sunday School Superintendent, past President of the UMW and the Susanna Circle. She was also the founder of the Clothes Closet and began the Youth Visitation Program at Birdmont Health Care Center. Mrs. Counts was the past Regent of the Stuart Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served on the Recreation Commission for the Town of Wytheville and was co-owner of Counts Drugs Company. She is survived by her husband, D. Reed Counts Sr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan C. and Jimmie Tickle of Elkton, Betty C. and Harry Johnston of Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis R. Jr. and Leah B. Counts of Wytheville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Brian, Stephen, and Angela Tickle, Lauren and Grace Johnston, Mary, Molly and William ``Willy"" Counts; one sister, Rosamond Coulthard of Pearisburg; three brothers, Paul Hicks of Pearisburg, Leon Hicks of Harriman, Tenn., Rodeheaver Hicks of Sun City West, Ariz. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 25, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles C. Burnett and the Rev. Henry Horton officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the St. Paul United Methodist Church Building Fund. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.

CRUSH, Richard Wade, 68, of Roanoke, died in a local hospital Tuesday, August 22, 1995. He was a retired city employee. He is survived by two sons, Richard Wade Crush Jr. and Charles William (``Chuck'') Crush; a daughter, Tammy Crush; a granddaughter, Emily Craig Crush; his former wife, Mrs. Dixie Craig Crush, all of Roanoke; and a grandson, Max Farley Crush, New Castle; four sisters, Mrs. Claude (Bernicie) Simpson, Independence, Mrs. Tom Stockton (Ellen) Fox, Roanoke, Mrs. Glenn (Dorothy) Howdyshell, Mrs. D. Vernon (Ruth) Armstrong, both of Ocala, FL; sister-in-law, Mrs. Arthur B. (Eleanor) Crush, Roanoke. He was the son of the late Arthur Bertran and Sally Bryan Crush, Oriskany. A private memorial service will be held.

ELMORE, Ross, 67, of Route 3, New Castle, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 22, 1995. He was retired from VDOT after 47 years and was a member of Crossroads Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Ouida Wolfe Elmore; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Joseph Reich Jr. of Catawba; two granddaughters, Cherie Nicole and Kara Danielle Reich; three brothers, Dallas Elmore, Elwood Elmore, Craig Elmore, all of New Castle. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church with interment in Huffman Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Boitnott Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossroads Christian Church Building Fund, Craig County Rescue Squad or Fire Department.

FLORA, Lucy Zirkle, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 1995. She was the widow of Daniel Price Flora, and was a member of First Church of the Brethren. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Algie Martin, Pilot; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Josephine Flora, Chamblissburg; grandchildren, Daniel L. Martin and wife, Lauren, Lexington, S.C., Timothy E. Martin, and wife, Nancy, Fairfield, Calif., Julie M. Owen, and husband, Tanner, Blanch, N.C., David R. Flora and wife, Amy, Roanoke; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Martin, Rachel Martin, and Kathryn Martin. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to First Church of the Brethren, 2001 Carroll Ave. Roanoke, Va. 24017. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Evergreen Burial Park by Pastor David R. Miller and Mrs. Flora's grandson, the Rev. Timothy E. Martin. RADER, Cheryl Lynn, 33, of Harrisonburg, formerly of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, August 22, 1995. She was born January 17, 1963 in Petersburg a daughter of Frank Rader and Carolyn Slough Rader. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Buena Vista. Besides her parents, she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, R. Frankie and Lisa Rader of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.; and grandmother, Hallie Rader of Buena Vista. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Edward Johnson and Dr. Chip Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Service from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday. TOLER, James Elder Sr., 78, of Roanoke County, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 1995, after a lenghty illness. Mr. Toler was a graduate of Ferrum College, was a member of the Roanoke Life Saving Crew, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Kazim Temple and the Klown Unit. He was a retired book store manager having served several colleges. Surviving are his wife, Myril Johnson Toler; a son, James E. Toler Jr., Portsmouth, R.I.; a stepdaughter, Sasha Saari, Glade Hill; stepson, Sherman Helms, Roanoke; his grandchildren, James Scott Toler, Jonathan Isaac Toler, Kira Hampton Saari, Ian Woodberry Saari; a sister, Dorothy Leonard, Danville, Calif.; a half brother, William Shives, Denbigh, Va. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park Friday, August 25, 1995, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Oscar T. Pugh officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the American Cancer Society in his memory. There will be no visitation. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.

TRIPP, Beatrice M., 72, of Route 2, New Castle, died Monday, August 21, 1995, at her home. She is survived by her husband, John Tripp; one son, Edward A. McCroskey of Roanoke; three daughters, Mary Goyette of Freemont, N.H., Helen Frazier of White House, Texas, Lillian Scott of New Castle; three brothers, Eugene McCormick of Milner, Ga., Cyrus McCormick and Theodore McCormick, both of New Castle; three sisters, Mable Love of Gastonia, N.C., Violet Caldwell of New Castle, Janet Bush of Glen Burnie, Md.; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. UNDERWOOD, Rachel Conner, 68, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 1995, in a local hospital. She was an employee of Singer Furniture Company. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Lawrence McGuire of Hardy, Helen and Tommy Baldwin of Salem, Donna and Jim Prince of High Point, N.C., Kathy and Junior Beckner of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle and Frank Poff of Roanoke, Violet and Richard Hamrick of Salem; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James Edward and Ruby Conner of Copper Hill, Robert and Polly Conner of Roanoke.
