In the first game, the completion of a suspended game on July 6, Salem's Forry Wells led off the 12th inning with a home run to give the Avalanche a 3-2 victory.
Velasquez hit his 11th home run of the year in the third inning to give Salem a 2-1 lead, and Forry Wells blasted an opposite-field homer in the fourth as Salem took a 3-1 edge.
Frederick's David Lamb doubled in Dave Dellucci to pull the Keys to 3-2 through five innings, but Salem plated four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to squelch any thoughts of a comeback.
Vicente Garcia's 10th homer of the season, a two-run shot, Nate Holdren's RBI single to right and an error accounted for Salem's scoring in the sixth.
In the seventh, Velasquez hit an RBI double to left, Garcia singled to left and Frederick committed another error to account for Salem's final runs.

Frederick pitcher Brian Brewer went 10 innings, scattering six hits and striking out seven. The loser was Matt Marenghi (4-13), who surrendered the game-winning home run.
Salem right-hander Matt Pool (9-7, 4.29 ERA) takes on Frederick right-hander Brad Crills (1-5, 3.66) in tonight's 7:05 matchup.
