WPSK claims top ratings

PULASKI - Eagle Country 107 WPSK (107.1 FM) claims to soar above the rest of the region's radio pack, based on its showing in the spring 1995 Arbitron ratings.

The Pulaski County-based country music station reports it "overwhelmed all other New River Valley radio stations" in listeners during the survey period March 30 through June 21. Weekdays 6 a.m.-midnight, WPSK reports, 13.6 percent of listeners 12 or older in Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties tuned in the station, a weekly audience of 37,300.

General Manager Dave Roederer said WPSK's ratings were almost triple those of its nearest competitor.

Roederer cited especially strong numbers for the station's evening "Lovin', Lookin' or Leavin'" program with Mary Kelly and the afternoon show with Tom Williams.

WPSK is owned by New River Media Group, which also operates WNNI (1260 AM), Majic 105 WVMJ (104.9 FM) - which debuted its adult contemporary format in late May - and WYVE (1280 AM), Wytheville.
