Robert Holloway, administrator of the medical examiner's office, made the disclosure Friday after an autopsy performed on the 21-year-old Danville man.
Meanwhile, Loney's Danville family is not commenting, saying only that it has retained a lawyer and plans to pursue charges against the Richmond Police Department.
``We loved Marco, and Marco is still with us,'' said LaTonya Hairston, who identified herself Friday as Loney's girlfriend. ``Justice is going to be served.''
Police say Officer Jeffrey E. Miles, an eight-year veteran, fired one shot during a foot chase because he thought Loney was reaching into his waistband for a gun.
No weapon was found where Loney fell, although police recovered four loaded handguns and crack cocaine in or beside the car that they say Loney was riding in just moments before he was killed.
