MUSIC PROJECT TO BENEFIT ABUSED-WOMEN'S SHELTER

``Harbor For Tomorrow,'' a cassette album of encouraging songs focusing on escape from domestic violence, will be introduced on ``The Jeff Hunt Show'' on Thursday evening on Public Radio WVTF.

Music for the title tune was written by local songwriter Greg Trafidlo; former Roanoke Vikings member Tommy Holcomb provided the arrangement.

General Electric Corp.'s Elfun Society provided a grant for the project, allowing the majority of the proceeds to go to Roanoke's Turning Point Shelter for Abused Women and Children.

Other local artists on the cassette include the Heather Banker & Lenny Marcus Quartet in their premiere recording, Lexington's Leslie Tucker and Staunton's Barb Martin.

The cover painting was created for this project by abuse survivor and Roanoke artist Sherry Christensen and photographer by Lynchburg's Andrew Wilds.

The cassette, selling for $5, is available at Books Strings & Things in downtown Roanoke, Record Exchange locations in Roanoke and Salem and Records Unlimited in Staunton. It can also be purchased by mailing $5 to GE Elfun Society, Attention: Warren Kurtz, 1501 Roanoke Boulevard, Room 457, Salem Va. 24153.

Hunt's radio show airs at 89.1 on the FM dial at 10 p.m. Trafidlo and Banker will join the host on the show.
