Fair directors issued a statement earlier this month inviting the girlie shows back. On Sunday afternoon, the trailer used by Gary Wayne Housel, who provides the entertainment, was in place near the carnival rides on the midway.
The Shenandoah Coalition Against Pornography fought the shows last year. They obtained warrants that charged Housel with procuring a woman to expose herself indecently and charged four dancers with violating Woodstock's indecent exposure law.
General District Judge Norman deVere Morrison dropped the charges against three of the women; another, Deanna M. Williams, didn't show up for her trial March 11. That same day, Housel was cleared of the charge against him.
On Sunday, Housel referred all questions to his attorney, David Baugh, in Richmond.
Baugh said it was Housel's ``sincere hope that the confusion that led to court action last year will not be repeated.''
The shows were expected to begin Monday night.
