THEATER, UNIVERSITY OFFER INTERNSHIPS

The Radford University theater department and Roanoke's Mill Mountain Theatre have established an alliance that will include for-credit student internships and the annual performance of a Mill Mountain production at the university, department chair Roberto Pomo announced.

``It gives our students the opportunity to get experience at a regionally and nationally acclaimed professional theatre. It also brings Mill Mountain productions to people who might not usually travel to Roanoke to see them,'' Pomo said.

Mill Mountain Theatre's production of the contemporary musical ``Falsetto'' will be performed in Radford University's Porterfield Theatre on Feb. 1-3.

Jere Lee Hodgin, the theater's artistic director, said that over the past decade the theater has been active in helping students obtain hands-on experience prior to graduation.

``We are pleased that this relationship ... will be our first formal intern agreement,'' he said. ``It's another example of our on-going commitment to the community to provide professional training for those students interested in theater.''
