After Salem Circuit Judge G.O. Clemens heard arguments from Miller's defense attorney, Rena Berry, and Commonwealth's Attorney Fred King, he sentenced her to 10 years in prison, then suspended that and ordered her to spend three years at Hegira House, a residential drug rehabilitation center in Roanoke. After that, she'll be on three years' probation, during which time she must continue drug counseling and will be subject to random drug tests.
Miller pleaded guilty in March to robbing the store with her husband, Boyd Oliver Miller Jr. Both were convicted in June.
Both Millers had been charged with a string of late-night robberies in Salem.
Boyd Miller will appear in court Sept. 8 for sentencing on two felony counts of robbery and one petty larceny charge of interfering with the property rights of another.
Both Millers are serving 12 months in jail on misdemeanor petty larceny charges for the theft of property from their former neighbor's apartment storage area.
