A building at 116 N. Jefferson St. across from Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center has been purchased by Sutton Construction Co. Inc. of Roanoke for $600,000. The building formerly housed Stone Printing Co. and more recently, Frame One.
The deal was negotiated by Read A. Lunsford, who said Sutton plans an adaptive project that is still to be determined. A full feasibility study is in progress.
Lunsford said the structure has an exceptionally sturdy shell and facade that may lend itself to a mixed-use commercial purpose. The property was sold by a couple who live in South Charleston, Ohio.
Lunsford also handled sale of 1.39 acres at 7057 Plantation Road N.W. for the Roanoke Valley's sixth Honeytree Early Learning Center owned and operated by Kathy and John McLeod.
Purchase price was $160,000 for the property, which had been used for residential purposes and was owned by an estate.
The 10,500-square-foot facility will be the largest in the Honeytree chain. The center is operating temporarily at the Market Place North shopping center on Williamson Road until J.M. Turner & Co. Inc. completes the new building.
Carolina Freight Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., has purchased a three-acre industrial tract at 2802 Nicholas Ave. in Statesman Industrial Park. The selling price was $167,500 and the seller was Lee Ridgley of Frederick, Md. Tom Turner negotiated the sale.
The company had leased the site for the last year while it built improvements.
Mattress King of Richmond has leased a 3,000-square-foot location at 5135 Williamson Road, property owned by James Hancock of Botetourt County. This is Mattress King's second Roanoke store. The lease was negotiated by Turner.
