Michael Berry scored three touchdowns - one on an interception return - kicked five extra points and finished with three receptions for 99 yards to lead Byrd.

Junior P.J. Moyer was the lone offensive standout for Roanoke Catholic, racking up 178 yards on 20 carries. Moyer, the 1994 Timesland Sizzlin' Sophomore Offensive Player of the Year, scored on runs of 64 and 58 yards.

Bath County 48, Craig County 0: In Hot Springs, the Chargers scored early and often as they opened defense of their Pioneer District title with a victory over an undermanned Rockets team.

Brandon Woodard led the Chargers with 148 yards on only four carries.

Craig County, which brought only 15 players, finished with 62 yards of total offense and never penetrated the Bath County 35-yard line.
