ROANOKE GAS NAMES ENERGY DIRECTOR

MIKE GAGNET has been named director of energy planning and procurement for Roanoke Gas Co. He is responsible for projecting and securing the gas and propane supply needs for the company's Roanoke and Bluefield markets. He previously was supervisor, gas supply and operations center.

Gagnet joined Roanoke Gas in 1985.

BANKING

RICHARD F. KATCHUK has joined Crestar Bank as corporate executive vice president and chief financial officer and will be working at the bank's corporate offices in Richmond. He comes to Crestar from Banc One Corp.

JOANN LLOYD has been named operations officer for Valley Bank in Roanoke. Her responsibilities include check clearing, data processing and managing the bookkeeping department. The 17-year banking veteran joins Valley Bank from Salem Bank & Trust, where she was a bank card officer. In Roanoke, she has been an operations officer for First Century Bank and a loan operations supervisor for Crestar Bank.

COLLEGES

AUDREY M. WHEATON, director of the Northwest Child Development Center, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Virginia Western Community College local advisory board representing Roanoke.

HEALTH CARE

DR. GARY B. GARST, a Roanoke chiropractor, was elected president of the Virginia Chiropractic Association. He has practiced for 11 years and has received board certification in chiropractic orthopedics.

LAW

C. SHIREEN HAYES has joined the law firm of Glenn, Flippin, Feldmann & Darby. Prior to joining the Roanoke firm, she practiced in Northern Virginia and Virginia Beach, concentrating in banking, real estate, land development and community association law.

J. RUDY AUSTIN, a partner at Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, has been appointed chairman of the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board by the Supreme Court of Virginia for a one-year term. Austin has been a member of the board for five years and has been vice chairman since 1993.

LINDA DAVIS FRITH, also a partner at Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore, has been appointed chairman of the Virginia State Bar Standing Committee on Lawyer Discipline by the president of the Bar for a one-year term.

GOVERNMENT

Gov. George Allen has appointed WILLIAM A. BRUBAKER of Montgomery County, who is employed with Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp., to the board of the Virginia Public Building Authority; WILLIAM L. COOPER III, president of Cooper Wood Products in Franklin County, to the Southside Virginia Business and Education Commission; and DR. DONALD W. KEES, assistant director of pediatric education at the Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, to the newly-created State Child Fatality Review Team.
