PIRANHA TAKE PASSING ROUTE TO BEAT RUSH

THREE TOUCHDOWN PASSES send Roanoke to a 20-6 National Minor League Football setback.

Andy Berault threw three touchdown passes as the Central Pennsylvania Piranha defeated the Roanoke Rush 20-6 in a National Minor League Football game for the second time this season on Saturday night.

Berault finished the night completing 11-of-21 passes for 201 yards and one interception.

Central Pennsylvania took a 6-0 lead 2:12 into the first quarter when Berault completed a 13-yard pass to Jesse Humphrey.

Berault added another touchdown on a 10-yard pass to Randy Yaeger at 10:10 in the second quarter and completed the scoring on a 68-yard strike to Humphrey in the third period.

Roanoke (1-2) got on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard pass from T.J. Jackson to Eddie Sloss. Jackson completed six of eight passes for 58 yards and one interception.

Despite the loss, the Rush had several highlights.

Ranall White had 18 carries for 93 yards and former Virginia Tech punter Robbie Colley had five kicks for a 53-yard average, including a 78-yard punt. Former Hokies defensive lineman Jerome Preston had 10 tackles, including a sack for a 15-yard loss, and Robert Majors added eight tackles.

The Rush returns to Victory Stadium next Saturday at 7 p.m. against the West Virginia Lightning.
