CAMPAIGNS START

The traditional kickoff of the campaign comes today in Buena Vista, where political leaders from both parties will gather for speechmaking.

Gov. George Allen, grand marshal of the 10 a.m. parade, has promised a "major address" where he is expected to lay out the Republicans' campaign themes.

Lt. Gov. Don Beyer will be the top Democrat at the traditional Labor Day festivities at Glen Maury Park.
