THE PEOPLE COLUMN

Larry Hagman was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Saturday, a week and a half after surgeons replaced his diseased liver.

The 63-year-old Hagman, who played J.R. Ewing on the prime-time soap ``Dallas,'' had advanced cirrhosis of the liver, which he blamed on years of heavy drinking. He was placed on a national organ-transplant waiting list July 19 after a malignant tumor was found on his liver.

A hospital spokesman called his recovery ``uneventful.''
