I-81 NARROWED IN BOTETOURT

Beginning at 7 this morning, traffic was to be reduced to one lane for paving on northbound Interstate 81 from the Roanoke County-Botetourt County line at mile marker 147 to mile marker 149.

The paving will continue through noon Friday. The Virginia Department of Transportation said motorists should expect traffic delays and use alternate routes if possible.

Motorists also should be aware that Virginia Tech will play its first home football game Thursday. The event is expected to bring in 45,000 fans, and traffic will be heavy along I-81 and U.S. 460 from Christiansburg to Blacksburg.

Spectators are advised to leave early for the 8 p.m. game.

For more information on traffic conditions, tune to radio station 1610 AM, or call VDOT's Christiansburg office at (540) 381-7200.
