IN SERVICE

PVT. JAMES V. PATTERSON, son of Barbara D. and Tony Strouth of Roanoke, has completed Army basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

PVT. BARRY S. LINK, son of Marvin E. and Marguerite F. Link of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Link is a 1994 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS JENNIFER L. LOWERY, daughter of James M. and Sally J. Jenkins of Roanoke, recently was promoted to her present rank while serving at Navy and Marine Corps Readiness Reserve Center, Sacramento, Calif.

Lowery is a 1991 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.

ARMY CADET CHRISTOPHER B.F. KAVANAUGH, son of Michael F. and Zora B. Kavanaugh of Boones Mill, has completed an ROTC advanced camp at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, N.C. Kavanaugh, a 1992 graduate of Cave Spring High School, attend Virginia Military Institute.

MARINE 2ND LT. STANLEY M. LAUCK, son of Claude M. Lauck and Mary S. Kummer of Roanoke, graduated from The Basic School for newly commissioned officers.

Lauck, a 1990 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor of science degree in 1994. He also has a master of arts degree from the University of Maryland in College Park.
