SEAMAN RECRUIT SANDRA V. MANNING, daughter of Rosalyn V. Manning of Salem, has completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Manning is a 1993 graduate of Salem High School.
PVT. BARRY S. LINK, son of Marvin E. and Marguerite F. Link of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.
Link is a 1994 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
ARMY MASTER SGT. MARION D. CHILDRESS, son of Tracy M. Barrister of Roanoke, recently participated in a joint training exercise at Fort Greely, Big Delta, Alaska. The exercise focused on peace enforcement and evacuation of American and foreign citizens.
Childress is a 1971 graduate of Lucy Addison High School.
PETTY OFFICE 3RD CLASS BRADLEY WALKER, son of Janet R. Walker of Salem recently was promoted to his present rank while serving with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 120, Naval Air Station, Norfolk.
Walker is a 1989 graduate of Glenvar High School.
CPL. BRIAN H. WEBB, son of Howard C. and Linda A. Webb of Roanoke, was promoted to his present rank while serving with Marine Air Control Group 38, 3rd Marine Division, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz.
Webb is a 1990 graduate of Craig County High School.
CPL. JOSHUA KIKER, son of Carl K. Kiker of Roanoke and Monika Milona of Roanoke, was promoted to his present rank while serving with Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C.
Webb is a 1992 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
AIRMAN RECRUIT JACK F. RIGGS, son of Jack F. and Beth M. Riggs of Roanoke, has completed the Aviation Structural Mechanic Hydraulics Maintenance course at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Millington, Tenn. Riggs received instruction on the inspection, servicing and repair of aircraft hydraulic sytems.
Riggs is a 1994 graduate of Northside High School.
MIDSHIPMAN JENNY L. SIGEL, daughter of Navy Capt. and Mrs. Steve C. Sigel of Vinton, served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, based in Norfolk.
During her summer training cruise, Sigel, a student at the University of Virginia, received training in shiphandling, navigation, seamanship, communications, weapons systems and ship's damage control and firefighting.
Sigel is a 1993 graduate of William Byrd High School.
