NRCC plans driving classes

DUBLIN - New River Community College has scheduled two sections of defensive driving classes during September.

Five safe driving points will be awarded by the state Division of Motor Vehicles upon successful completion.

The first section, EDCA 102-43, will begin meeting Monday, and continue on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The second section, EDCA 102-06, is an all-day Saturday session which will meet Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Both sections will meet in 137 Godbey Hall.

Preregistration on the non-credit course application is required, at the Dublin campus or a the college's Christiansburg site at 412 Roanoke St.

Each class costs $75.

Septemberfest parking

RADFORD - Septemberfest will have lots of free parking during the street festival Saturday.

Parking areas will include the municipal lot at Third and Grove Avenues, a special area on Norwood Street between Harrison Street and the entrance to Bisset Park, and the Radford University parking lot at the east end of the festival area on Norwood Street.

More than 80 Radford University students will help with parking and directing traffic.

Traffic on U.S. 11 will be rerouted, onto Grove Avenue near the entrance to Bisset Park to Tyler Avenue and back to Norwood Street.

Septemberfest begins today in west Radford and Saturday in east Radford.
