HENSLEY, Darwin Linwood, 85, of Big Island, died Friday, September 8, 1995 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on June 23, 1910, a son of the late Ryland Lee Hensley and Rena Bell Gillaspie Hensley. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ryland Guy Hensley and Charlie B. Hensley. He was retired from Georgia-Pacific and was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Emeritus. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Chapman Hensley; one son, Earl D. Hensley, Ph.D., Temple Hills, Md.; one daughter, Nyla Kaye Boyers, Harrisonburg; four brothers, N. D. Hensley, E. S. Hensley, J. H. Hensley, all of Big Island; H. J. Hensley, Kinston, N.C.; one sister, Salley H. Scott, Richmond; four grandch ildren, Christopher Boyers and Edward Boyers, Harrisonburg, Lee Hensley, College Park, Md., Jessica Hensley, Temple Hills, Md. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 1995, in the Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Benjamin R. Owen officiating. ALLISON, Jack Brown, 64, of Roanoke, died Thursday, September 7, 1995. Mr. Allison was a former N & W Railway employee. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann Allison; a son, Larry Wayne Allison, Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and James Henderson, Vinton, Wanda and James Evans, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Amanda Henderson, Allyson Henderson, Melissa Montgomery; his mother-in-law, Mabel Marie Eades, Roanoke; brother-in-law, Anthony Eades, Roanoke; his half sister, Peggy Lucille MacLean, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel at noon Monday, September 11, 1995, with the Rev. Harry E. Leland and the Rev. Mott A. Cumby Jr. officiating. ARGABRIGHT, Etta Fisher, 86, of Starlight Lane, Roanoke County, died Friday, September 8, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy C. Argabright; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and William (Bill) Byrd. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Loulie Belle Argabright; two daughters and sons-in-law, LaVerne and Rufus Brown, Gloria and Hugh Poage; six grandchildren, Lamanda Parrish, Brian Argabright, Michael Brown, Kenneth Brown, Lee Poage, John Poage; six great-grandchildren; six sisters, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Dorothy and Lewis Angell, Bertha Hartman, Virginia Edwards, Janie Richards, Nettie Sink, Frances Dangerfield, Annie Fisher. ASBURY, Maudie Mae, 87, of Blacksburg, died Friday, September 8, 1995 in Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg. She was born February 22, 1908 at Pulaski, Va., the daughter of the late John Jackson and Ella Jane Strader Wright. She was the widow of Thomas Edward Asbury Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ossie Ellen Marsolek, Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Geraldine Taylor, Bland; one son, Gerald Asbury, Virginia Beach; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Gladys Rae Mann, Bland; one stepson, Thomas E. Asbury Jr., Lake Wales, Fla.; one brother, Lacie Wright, Blacksburg; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Talbert, White Gate; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Clifton officiating. Burial in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Visiting will be at the funeral home and after 1 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

BERRY, Paul Ralph, 64, of Chilhowie, died Friday, September 8, 1995 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a retired automobile dealer, a U. S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Chilhowie Masonic Lodge #250 A.F. & A.M., a member of the Francis Marion VFW Post #4667, Marion, and a member of the Chilhowie Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean McClure Berry; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Lisa Berry, Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Herbert Phibbs, Yorktown; two brothers, Marvin Berry, Chilhowie, Frank Berry, Maitland, Fla.; two sisters, Marie An derson, Maitland, Fla., Margaret Berry, Savannah, Ga.; two grandchildren, Brandon Phibbs and Kayla Berry. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Chilhowie Christian Church, with the Rev. Frank Branson and the Rev. Sam Rasnake officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. EARLY, Gordon Leslie, 76, of Roanoke, died Friday, September 8, 1995. He was a former employee of Shredded Products Corp. and retired in 1985. Surviving are his wife, Mary B. GUENPHER, Kathryn J. Heckman , 87, of New Britain, Conn., died Tuesday, August 29, 1995. She is survived a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and William Von Appen, Roanoke. Funeral services was held September 1 at St. Francis Assisi Church and St. Mary Cemetery.

HALSEY, Nannie Suitt, 86, of Volney, passed away Friday, September 8, 1995 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. She was the widow of Thomas C. Halsey. She was born April 29, 1909 at Volney, Va. to Emory and Minnie Richardson Suitt and was a member of Volney Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Eve Campbell, Troutdale, Louise and Dean Adams, Piney Creek, N.C.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Rex and Grace Halsey, Independence, Rev. Camet and Carolene Halsey, Tommy and Hazel Hals ey, Rev. Douglas and Jean Halsey, all of Volney; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Fannie and Laxton Hutton, Marion, Ruby and John C. HARLOW, Eva Mae Busby, 73, of Roanoke, died Friday, September 8, 1995. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jean Carroll Harlow and Heaven-Lee Stump. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lewis D. HARRIS, Louise Frantz, 80 of Roanoke, died Thursday, September 7, 1995. She was pre deceased by her husband Howard S. Harris Jr. Mrs. Harris was an active member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church, having served in many capacities of leadership. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Howard ""Butch"" and Judy Harris; grandchildren, Gregory and Cindy Harris, all of Daleville; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Evelyn Frantz, Roanoke; several nieces and nephews. OAKES, Wilbur Haywood, 85, of 2768 Reliance Rd., Middletown, died Thursday, September 7, 1995 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1910 in Bedford County, to the late William Henry Oakes and Ida Birdie Tuck Oakes. He retired from the American Viscose Corp., where he had been a charge hand. After his retirement he worked as a security guard, for 8 yrs, at Lord Fairfax Community College. He was a member of the Reliance United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Oakes. Surviving are his wife, Clara McMinis Oakes, of the home; two sons, Troy Oakes, Kenneth Oakes, both of Middlet own; two daughters, Betty Redomsky, Middletown, Jean Witteveen, San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Clyde Oakes, Roanoke; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 11, 1995, at Reliance United Methodist Church, with Dr. Bill Wade officiating. Burial in Shenandoah Memorial Park. RAY, Addie Louise Beckner, 63, died Thursday, September 7, 1995 at Friendship Manor Nursing Home. Born March 1, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Henry McKinley and Ola Mae Richards Beckner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Houston Beckner, Copper Hill. Surviving are her husband, Harry F. RICH, Linvil Burton, (``Lin''), 42,, of 601 Pinecrest Drive, Seneca, S.C., died Wednesday, September 6, 1995 at Bowman Gray Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C., after an illness of several months. He was born June 17, 1953 in Radford, Va. Mr. Rich was a graduate of Daniel High School and Clemson University. He was General Manager of Roper Auto Sales, Ford and Mercury Dealership, Seneca, S.C. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the Seneca Baptist Church. He was a member of the Seneca Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also on the Old Stone Church Commission. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Roper Rich of the home; daughter, Diana Lynn Rich of the home; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Linvil G. Rich, Clemson, S.C.; brother, Graham W. Rich, Westchester, Ohio; his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earle Roper, Seneca, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Debra V. Roper, Greer, S.C., Tricia R. WARNER, James Edward, 67, of Staffordsville, died Thursday, September 7, 1995 at his home. He was born March 24, 1928 at Eggleston, Va., the son of the late Arthur L. and India Comer Warner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, was retired from Huff Petroleum Products, Pulaski, and was a veteran of th e Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Warner; one son and daughter-in-law, James Michael and Debbie Warner, Staffordsville; three daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and David J. Whitehead, Carol Warner and friend, Troy Wright, and Christi Warner, all of Staffordsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Arvil L. (Bill) and Rennie Warner, Eggleston; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Ralph Johnston, Narrows, Ruby and Claude Cruise, Bluefield, Va., Shirley and Carlton Smith, Princeton, W. Va., Doris Blankenship, Peterstown, W.
