BLANKENBECKLER, Charles, (``David""), 51, of Rt. 2, Wirtz, passed away Friday, September 8, 1995, at his home. David was employed 31 years by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and served as president of the Local IBEW #637 Union for 17 years. His beloved survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Blankenbeckler; his parents, Charles W. and Clara Blankenbeckler, Salem; three daughters, Sherry Blankenship, Salem, Melanie Kiger, Elkin N.C., and Clara Mini, Roanoke; a stepdaughter, Amy Renee Crowe, Boones Mill; a stepson, Johnny Crowe, Roanoke; two sisters, Peggy Barron, Southington, Conn., and Jeannie Miller, Newport News; three grandchildren, Chasidy Blankenship, Morgan Kiger and Amber Mini, and three step-grandchildren, Johnny Jr., Julie and Rachel Crowe. OVERSTREET, Dorothy Mae, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was a retired Nurse's Aide from Community Hospital and Gill Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Overstreet was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Daniel Overstreet and she was a loving neighbor and friend to many people. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Danny) and Susan Byrd Overstreet, Hardy; granddaughters, April Dawn Overstreet, Amber Nicole Overstreet; a half brother, Buddy Dent, Vinton; a half sister, Etta Weeks, Pompano Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Pauline Cooper, Vinton; two special nephews, Butch Overstreet, Roanoke, David Dunithan, Vinton. PHELPS, Aylett Elmo, 90, died Saturday, September 9, 1995, at Friendship Healthcare Center. He was a resident of Friendship Manor Retirement Community, Roanoke,. He was the brother of the late Mary P. Wingfield of Madison Heights and the late Charlie T. Phelps of Roanoke and formerly of Madison Heights. He was retired after 40 years of employment at the former Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp. in Lynchburg. Prior to coming to Friendship Manor, he had been a long-time boarder in the home of a close friend on Ruffner Street in Lynchburg. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Elsie M. Phelps, Roanoke; nieces, Dorothy L. Peters, Dot W. Setzke, Elsie W. Bryant and Nellie L. Hall, Madison Heights, Betty Ferrell, Rustburg, Christine Carter, Lynchburg; nephews, George W. Linthicum, Lynchburg, and C. Calvin Phelps, Roanoke, and many other family members and friends in the Lynchburg area. She was the widow of Jesse J. Woods. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard W. and Deborah C. Woods of Roanoke; grandchildren, Jennifer Woods, Jessica Woods, Jordyn Woods; a sister, Mrs. Clara Wilson of Vinton. WORLEY, Charles S., Jr., 83, of Blacksburg, died Friday, September 8, 1995, at Montgomery Regional Hospital after a long illness. He was born on June 2, 1912, in Raton, N.M. He attended the Univesity of New Mexico and later received his B.S. degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. In 1939, he painted frescos in Mexico with Pablo O'Higgins. In 1941, he received his Master of Science degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he studied under Mies van der Rohe. In 1947, he began a long career as Professor of Architecture at VPI&SU, teaching architectural design an d urban planning. His private architectural projects included the Museum of Arts of Ogunquit, Maine, the Claytor Lake Camp in Virginia, and his unique home in Blacksburg. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Atkins Worley; his daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Charles Brown, and his granddaughter, Aquaria Brown, all of Richmond; his stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Dave Jackson, their three children and grandchildren in Connecticut, and Charlotte Atkins and Ernest Bryant, Floyd County. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donationa may be made to the Charles S. Worley Scholarship Fund, College of Architecture, VPI&SU, Blacksburg. WYKLE, Guy R., 75, of Christiansburg, formerly of Ronceverte, W. Va., died Friday, September 8, 1995 at his home. He was a veteran of WWII. He had lived in Christiansburg since 1971.
