Ashworth-Holbrook

Lisa Ann Holbrook and Douglas Charles Ashworth were married August 26, 1995 at Morgans Chapel Church, New River, Va. Pastor Will Shewey officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride was escorted by her brother, Eddie Holbrook, and given in marriage by her mother, brother and sister.

The maid of honor was Sarah McPeak, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Deana Pennington, friend of the bride; Diana Ashworth, sister of the groom; Kellie Young, stepsister of the bride, and Terra Ashworth, niece of the groom.

The best man was Charles Ashworth, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Donald Ashworth, brother of the groom; Dale Ashworth, brother of the groom; and Brandon Young, stepbrother of the bride.

The flowergirl was Patricia Melvin, cousin of the bride. The ringbearer was Wesley Snider, nephew of the groom. The guestbook attendant was Debra Hall, sister of the groom.

A lingerie shower was hosted by Mary Young at her home in Riner. A bridal shower was held at Electrical Supply hosted by Ann Ashworth, Diana Ashworth and Debra Hall. A bridal shower was held at Morgans Chapel Church hosted by Deana Pennington, Lynda Young, Lora Lyons and LaDonna Dalton.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by Charles and Ann Ashworth at the Farmhouse, Christiansburg, Va.

The bride is the daughter of Mary and Edward Young, Riner, Va., and the late James Ray Holbrook. She is the granddaughter of Irene K. Melvin, Dublin, Va. She is employed by State Electric Supply Company, Christiansburg, Va.

The groom is the son of Charles and Ann Ashworth, Christiansburg, Va. He is the grandson of Jessie Lovern, Christiansburg, Va. He is employed by E lectrical Supply Company, Christiansburg, Va.

Hilda Rebecca Hickmon and Charles Dale Carter were married May 28, 1995 in the Episcopal Church of the Episphany. The officiating clergy were the Rev. James Mathieson and the Rev. Sally Dover. The reception was held at Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History.

The maid of honor was Courtney Spooner, cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were Christi Waters, Dee Jay Zerman, Elizabeth Schrull, friends; Sheridan Page, cousin of the groom; and Lee Ann Hubbard, friend.

The best man was Stuart Dale Carter, father of the groom. The ushers were Jimmy Carter, brother of the groom; Richard Litton, Ken Rogers, Ken Bland, Jr., friends; and Lee Page, cousin of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Vivan Christman.

The bride wore her mother's wedding gown of satin with long sleeves and sweetheart neckline. She carried a bouquet of white and red roses, pink carnations, white orchids, blue larkspur and baby's breath.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Hickmon of Rocky Point, N.C. She is a graduate of Meredith College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed by Cherokee Sanford Group.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Dale Carter of Buchanan, Va. He is a graduate of James River High School and Averett College. He is employed by CSC, Inc.

The newlyweds will live in Sanford, N.C., after their wedding trip to Cat Island, Bahamas.

Clarkson-John

Beverley Grace Jo hn and David Scott Clarkson were married on September 9, 1995 on board the Virginia Dare, Smith Mountain Lake, Va. A reception cruise followed the ceremony.

The maid of honor was Kelly Gabaur and the best man was James Rogers, both friends of the bride and groom. The bridesmaid was Michele Lowder Will, friend of the bride, and the usher was Kenneth Clarkson, brother of the groom. The guestbook attendants and greeters were Janet Bacik and Eric Will, both friends of the bride. A solo was performed by Karin Barnhill, friend of the bride and groom. She was accompanied by Kenneth Clarkson, brother of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and JoElla John of Fincastle, Va. She is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and James Madison University. She is employed as the Resident Care Supervisor at Cave Creek Home for Adults.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. William D. Clarkson of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Roanoke Catholic High School and Emory and Henry College. He is employed as an Area Manager at Stop-In Food Stores.

The newlyweds will reside in Roanoke, Va. after a honeymoon trip to Jamaica.

Coleman-Myers

Virginia (Ginny) Myers and Wilton Leon Coleman were united in a beautiful simple ceremony July 15, 1995, at the Summerdean Church of the Brethren with Rev. Jim Worline officiating.

The unity candles were lit by Lisa Thomas for her mother and Cindy Morrow for her dad.

Sons-in-law of the groom, Mike Ful ler and Jim Morrow, served as ushers. The bride and groom entered the church together.

The groom sang ``I'll Always Be The Man In Love With You'' to his bride after the lighting of the unity candle.

The bride with the help of Janina Eller designed and made her outfit and bouquet.

The reception was held in the fellowship room with Lisa Thomas, Cindy Morrow, Julie Fuller, Ann Tingler, Judy Dowdy, Anita Monk and Margo Brake assisting.

Desseyn-Lawrence

Mary Angela Lawrence and Paul Andrew Desseyn were married Sunday, September 3, 1995 in the Daleville Church of the Brethren. The Reverend Daniel Barnum-Steggerda presided over the ceremony. A dinner dance reception was held at the Roanoke Airport Marriott Ballroom.

The maid of honor was Jennifer Taylor of Roanoke, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Randa Shaver and Kimberly Wingo of Roanoke, friends of the bride; Bryana Greenway and Jenna Pielocik of Daleville, cousins of the bride; and Liz Russell of the United Kingdom, sister of the groom. The flowergirl was Emily Pielocik of Daleville, cousin of the bride.

Molly Kay Duncan and Gregory Allen Marshall were married September 9, 1995 at The Church of Transfiguration in Fincastle, Virginia. Father Larry Mullaney officiated with the assistance of the Reverend Marsha Davidson of Mill Creek Baptist Church. A reception followed at the Radisson Patrick Henry Hotel.

The bride was escorted by her father. The maid of honor was Carrie Duncan. The bridesmaids were Allison Hall, Adrienne Trasher and Leslie Woodie, and Lara Lee Strickler.

The groom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Marshall, Don Baxter, Cordell Turner, and Stan Strickler. Zachery Fisher was ringbearer; and Aaron Duncan was the cross bearer.

Melissa Ann Moran and Timothy Lee Overstreet were married Saturday, September 9, 1995, in Oakland Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Dampeer, Sr., officiating. A reception was held in the church fellowship hall and a wedding celebration took place later at the Vinton War Memorial.

The matron of honor was Valerie Dalton, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amanda Moran, niece of the bride, Ann Marie Parks, Teresa Moles and Christy Morrison, all friends of the bride. Junior bridesmaids were Kristen Dalton and Jamie Moran, nieces of the bride. Flowergirl was Alison Dalton, niece of the bride.

The father of the groom, Obediah Overstreet, served as best man. Ushers were Alvin Overstreet and Mark Overstreet, brothers of the groom, Mark Moran, brother of the bride, Stacy Anderson, David Williams, Tim Bare and Steve ``Boo'' Carter, all friends of the groom. Ringbearers were Jonathan and Stuart Woodard, twin nephews of the groom.

Kimberly Stacie Hatter and Daniel Brian Smith were united in marriage on Saturday, September 9, 1995, in a 2 p.m. ceremony at Greene Memorial United Methodist Church in Roanoke. The Rev. Robert L. Watts officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Colston Hatter. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory satin gown with a beaded pearl and pleated bodice. She carried a spray of ivory calla lilies. The bride is a graduate of Appalachian State University, Boone, N.C. with a B.A. in English Literature.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael B. Smith of Columbia, S.C. He is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems. Daniel is employed by Automated Data Systems of Roanoke.

Mrs. Leslie Lewis, sister of the bride, of Apex, N.C., was matron of honor. Bridal attendants were Mrs. Heather Spiva of Roanoke, Mrs. Mary Ann Reed of Knoxville, Tenn., Miss Stephanie Idol of Boone, N.C., and Miss Kathleen McGowan of Chicago, Ill., all friends of the bride. Ushers were David Price, stepfather of the groom; Rick Taylor, friend of the groom; David Orange, cousin of the bride; and Michael Stone, brother-in-law of the bride. The maid of honor was Mary Ruth Harmon, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Miss Amie Bowling, Mrs. Rebekah Guthrie, Miss Tonya Hart, Mrs. Monica Miller, Mrs. Marlie Nunnally, Mrs. Karen Schnell, and Mrs. Carol Smith.

The best man was Stephen K. Waskey, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. Blake Blackwell, Mr. Ken Guthrie, Mr. Tim Guthrie, Mr. Frank Hancock, Mr. Robert Jahrsdoerfer, Mr. Brett Schnell, Mr. Dan Sweeney, and Mr. Michael Vayvada.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Harmon, Jr. of Bluefield, Va. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is employed by the University of Virginia Medical Center Finance Department.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton B. Waskey of Roanoke, Va., is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is employed by J.W. Sieg and Company, Inc.

The newlyweds will live in Charlottesville, Va. after the wedding trip to Sanderling, N.C.

Yager-Johnson

Jessica Ann Johnson and T. Craig Yager were married July 8, 1995 at 6:00 in the evening in the Wren Chapel at the College of William & Mary. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Antonio Malabad. A dinner reception was held at the Williamsburg Hospitality House. The maid of honor was Miss Catherine P. Adams, friend of the bride. The bridesmaid was Miss Kristen R. Lam, friend of the bride.

The best man was Mr. William P. Gladysz, friend of the groom. The ushers were Mr. Kyrce Culbertson, friend of the groom, and Mr. Kenneth B. Johnson, brother of the bride. The greeter was Miss Kristina Yager, sister of the groom.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael K. Johnson of Roanoke. She is a graduate of The College of William and Mary and is employed by Circuit City, Inc. as a computer programmer.

The bridegroom, son of Mrs. Carolyn Yager of Richmond, Va., is a graduate of The College of William and Mary, and is employed by Philip Morris, USA as an accountant.

The newlyweds will live in Richmond after a wedding cruise to the Caribbean.
