CAMPBELL, Thelma Bondurant, 86, of Rt. 5, Martinsville, died Saturday, September 9, 1995 at Martinsville Convalescent Center. She was preceded in dea th by her husband, Thomas Jackson Campbell, and her first husband, Benjamin Howard Bondurant. She was born October 27, 1908 in the Sontag Community of Franklin County to the late John Henry Dent and Lou Emma Slayton Dent. She was a past clerk of Montgomery Ward and Lazarus. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir, was a member of the WMU and was a former Clerk of the Church. She had served as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Morris (Lucille) Whitehead, two infant children, a sister, Maude Henski, and three brothers, Junior Dent, Ford Dent and Wills Dent. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Virgil( Violet) Hundley, Martinsville, Mrs. Donald Shirley) Bonyai, Branford, Conn., Mrs. Buddy (Betty Ann) Campbell, Penhook; a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Carlyne Bondurant, New Haven, Conn.; three sisters, Lula Turner, Doris Powell, both of Glade Hill, Frances Pinkard, Collinsville; two brothers, Warren Dent, Rocky Mount, William Dent, Glade Hill; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine stepchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 1995 at 11 a.m. in the McKee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Taylor, the Rev. Ted Clifton and the Rev. Windell Patterson officiating. Interment in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at McKee Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Rt. 5, Martinsville, Va. or the Snow Creek Rescue Squad, Rt. 2, Penhook, Va.

BAKER, Donald Edward, 51, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 9, 1995. Donald served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, was a member of the Vinton Moose Lodge #1121 and a member of Moose Legionaire. He was a former employee of the VA Medical Center, and was preceded in death by his parents, John J. and Louise Cheek Baker, and a brother, John J. (``Pete"") Baker Jr. Surviving are his wife, Josephine (``JoAnn"") Baker; his children and their spouses, SFC Ira (``Junior"") and Becky, Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., Lester and Sue, Vinton, David and Regina, Marion, Ind., Jerry Keith, Doylestown, Pa., Elizabeth Ann Hopkins, Roanoke, Darlene and Harold Martinez, Laramie, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Justin and Jackie, Scott and Nick, Michael and Kenny; his brothers, William (``Bill"") Baker, Salem, Larry G. Baker, Michael E. Baker and his wife Anita, all of Roanoke County; also many special friends who loved and helped care for him through his illness. Funeral services will held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel Wednesday, September 13, 1995, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jeff York officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. COCKERHAM, Vella Ruth Carr, widow of Robert J. Cockerham, 87, of Galax, died Sunday, September 10,1995 in the Camelot Nursing Home, Salem. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Willard M. and Mildred Clark Cockerham, Salem; grandchildren, Chris Cockerham Lawerance, Jackie Cockerham O'Neill, Steven J. Cockerham, Linda Cockerham Schrader, Michelle Cockerham Kessinger; one sister, Virginia Dolinger, Galax; brother, J. Dean Carr, Galax; ten great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Jess B. Higgins, the Rev. Stuart Carleton, and the Rev. Carroll Clark officiating. COLEMAN, Alice Daniels, 73, of Radford, died Saturday, September 9, 1995 in Bluefield, W. Va. She taught home economics at Pulaski County High School and at then, Radford College, from 1958 - 1960. From 1961 - 1971 she served as manager of the Virginia Room, a part of food services, at Radford College. From 1971 until her retirement in 1980, she served as dietician and supervisor in food services at Radford University. She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Colemen of Radford; and by a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia D. and Darrell J. Breehl of Forest, Va. There will be a visitation at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 1995, concluding with a brief funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Joseph & Kathleen Bryan Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C. COPLAN, Ralph, 77, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 9, 1995. He was a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church and a life member of the DAV. He was retired from the VA Medical Center and was a totally disabled veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Katherine L. Coplan, Roanoke; his second mother, Mrs. Joseph Coplan, two half sisters and one half brother, all of Richmond; two pets, Kemp II and Sugar Boy II, and devoted caretakers, Helen Carter, Lucille McMannaw ay and Norma Evans. A memorial service will be held at the graveside in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Tuesday, September 12, 1995, at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. PARKS, Roy C., 73, died Saturday, September 9, 1995, in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie. He is survived by his wife, Helen Powers Parks, Chilhowie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Edna Parks, Marion, Donald and Denise Parks, Colonial Heights; two sisters, Emma Ruth Armstrong and Virginia Ball, Marion; a brother, J. Guy Parks Jr., Marion, and two grandsons, Timothy Parks, Richmond, Jason Parks, Colonial Heights. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. POWELL, Ruth Rebecca Price, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 9, 1995. She was born January 2, 1928. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Harold R. Price and Mary Annie Harvey Price, and a brother, James H. Price. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Benjamin T. Powell Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin T. Powell and Pamela Martin Powell, Salem; a granddaughter, Danielle Nicole Powell, Williamsburg; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bernard L. Price, Raleigh, N.C., David L. Price and Juanita J. Price, Richmond; six nieces; three nephews; and twel ve grand-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Powell was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and the McArthur Sunday School Class, and the Williamson Road Chapter #119 Order of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday from Oakey's North Chapel, with the Rev. David A. Kirk and Dr. James A. Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. ULREY, Martha Brugh, 75, of Salem, died Saturday, September 9, 1995. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Howard D. Ulrey; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Don Perdue, Roanoke; three brothers, Walter C. Brugh, Roanoke, Henry E. Brugh, Cloverdale, Billy R. Brugh, Georgia; two sisters, Kathleen B. Hale, Janie B. Woodson, both of Salem; a devoted grandson, Darden B. Hurt, Roanoke; a granddaughter, Dawn H. Martin, Chilhowee, Mo.; two great-grand-children, Mary Alice Martin and Billy Martin, both of Chilhowee, Mo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, at 10 a.m., at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. V. N. McHone officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
