2 SOUGHT IN DEATH OF CAMPER

The Wythe County Sheriff's Office is looking for a couple in connection with a Rural Retreat man who was found dead at a campsite at the Rural Retreat Lake Monday afternoon.

According to a sheriff's office news release, Jabe S. Ferguson III, 33, appeared to have been killed by a blow or several blows to the head ``using a sharp weapon, possibly an ax or a hatchet.''

Deputies want to question a man and a woman who had been camping at the lake for the last three to four weeks.

Ferguson's body was discovered at the lake at 3 p.m. Monday; family members told officials Ferguson had been missing since Friday.

Ferguson's disappearance was not reported to the sheriff's office until about 10:45 a.m. Monday.
