2 SUSPECTS IN AX SLAYING CAUGHT

Two suspects sought in connection with an ax slaying have been apprehended at a Kingsport, Tenn., motel.

A Wythe County Sheriff's Office spokesman said officials will begin extradition proceedings soon. No other details about the couple's arrest were available.

Murder warrants were issued for Kerri Ann Koehler, 39, and William Ray Lindsey, 36, who were believed to be traveling in a black 1978 Ford Thunderbird with a rust-brown top.

Sheriff Wayne Pike described the pair as transients who had been frequenting homeless shelters and other places, such as campgrounds, where they could stay for free.

The body of Jabe Ferguson III was discovered about 3 p.m. Monday in a wooded campground next to Rural Retreat Lake.

Ferguson had been missing since Friday.
