The Roanoke Rugby Football Club started its 23rd year Sept. 10. The team practices from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Villa Heights Park. Home matches are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sept. 16, Sept. 30 and Oct. 14 at Highland Park. The club also will host the Virginia State Championship Tournament Oct. 28-29 at Green Hill Park.

Two take titles in bodybuilding
Duane Ellis, 25, of Roanoke recently won the first open overall title at the Virginia/Carolina Bodybuilding Championships held in Danville. Sina Ferrigno won the women's open overall title. Both are members of the New Fitness Gym.
County rec department to hold sports camps
Roanoke County Parks and Recreation will hold a basketball mini-camp for boys and girls ages 9-15 Oct. 20-22 at William Byrd High School. The department will also hold a volleyball mini-camp for boys and girls ages 10-14 Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at Northside High School.
