Dimon buys Italian tobacco plant

Dimon International Inc., Danville and Farmville, N.C., tobacco processor and fresh flower distributor, said Wednesday it completed acquisition of Reditab S.r.L., an Italian tobacco business, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Dimon Italia S.r.L. of Rome. Prior to the acquisition, Reditab was a joint venture company in which Dimon International owned a 50 percent share.

The assets include a 500,000-square-foot complex with two tobacco production lines and storage facilities.

ETS subsidiary gets drainage job

ETS International Inc. of Roanoke said Wednesday that its environmental waste water subsidiary, Stamie E. Lyttle Co. of Richmond, has a $1,353,252 contract from the city of Richmond for the Broad Rock Creek drainage improvements.

Navin Sheth, executive vice president of Lyttle, said the project includes construction of a drainage channel, recon- struction of a storm drain system, and erosion control. ETS specializes in environmental and construction products and services.

New stock listings

Stock listings for three companies new to the Roanoke region have been added to The Roanoke Times' Stocks of Regional Interest. Added today are First American Corp., the Nashville banking company proposing purchase of Charter Federal Savings Bank; Stein Mart Inc., a Jacksonville, Fla., retailer opening a store this week in Roanoke County; and United States Cellular Corp. of Chicago, which last month bought Cellular One operations in Roanoke, Lynchburg and Charlottesville.

Added to our mutual funds listing are the DelCap Fund of the Delaware Fund, the Monetta Fund, the Latin American Growth Fund and Pacific Opportunity Fund of Scudder Funds, and Virtus Funds.
