REPORTED EARNINGS

Brendle's Inc., Elkin, N.C.-based discount retailer, reported a net loss of $2.7 million, equal to 21 cents per share, on revenues of $30.1 million for its second quarter ended July 29. This compares with a year-earlier loss of $2.4 million, equal to 19 cents a share, on revenue of $32.8 million.

For its first six months, Brendle's reported a net loss of $6.5 million, equal to 51 cents per share, on revenues of $54.3 million, compared with year-earlier net income of $22.4 million, or $2.12 per share, on revenues of $58.8 million.
