HELEN ST. CLAIR TO RETURN TO CAMPAIGNING|

Montgomery County commissioner of revenue candidate Helen St. Clair will resume campaigning next week after being laid up for two weeks because of a dog bite.

St. Clair, the Republican candidate, is running against Democrat Nancy Miller, the current deputy commissioner.

A German shepherd bit St. Clair in the right calf during a Labor Day weekend campaign stop. She expected to be off the campaign trail for a week, but it stretched into two when the bite became infected. St. Clair also has been unable to resume work in the treasurer's office.

"I haven't been able to do anything but keep my foot propped up, put warm compresses on it and take antibiotics several times a day," she said.

The infection is under control, St. Clair said Thursday. She expects to resume limited door-to-door visits.
