BUILDING SELLS FOR $280,000

The building on Roanoke's City Market that formerly housed Mish Mish Inc. was sold Friday to an investor for $280,000.

Millie J. Moore of Boone & Co. commercial office, who was listing agent for the property, declined to identify the buyer, saying she did not want her name publicized.

The deed recorded Friday in Roanoke Circuit Court listed the buyer as KDL Investments, a Roanoke limited liability corporation. A source familiar with downtown property said the new owner is Leman Dudley, a Roanoke businesswoman and real estate investor, who will use some of the space for her office.

The sellers were Steven J. Miller and Deborah H. Miller of Blacksburg, owners of Mish Mish. Dee Dudley of MKB Realtors and Dan Owen of Smith-Packett Signature Realty were the selling agents for the property.

Moore said the new owner is considering possible retail, office and residential uses for the two-story building at 14 Campbell Ave. S.E. No decisions have been made about a future use, Moore said.

The property has been vacant since the end of January when Mish Mish closed its Roanoke operation after eight years at the Market.

The art-and-drafting-supply retailer still has a Blacksburg store.

A company spokesman said then that restaurants and gift shops are the successful enterprises in that area rather than merchants selling other sorts of merchandise.
