THE GREAT COVER-UPS

Here's the inside story on the outerwear world: The look isn't from another planet. It's from mother earth, to be worn to hike the rugged trails, to ski the mountain slopes, to walk the chill winter streets, to sashay to work, to stroll to fine restaurants or social extravaganzas. The options are many and the choices are difficult.

Even if you have a closet full of coats, you will be tempted this year to buy yet another winter cover-up. While perhaps not politically correct, fur coats are still good investments. They are still at the top of the coat hierarchy for luxury.

And if your preferences are for synthetics, but you still have those animal instincts, go for fleece or the faux fur. The fashion world is democratic and provides for all.

Wear something that moves you. Like it, enjoy it. Go out, have a steak or a tofu burger. Fight your political battles, but do it in style.
