CATHOLIC HOLDS OFF MASSANUTTEN 20-16

P.J. Moyer rushed for 135 yards on 23 carries Saturday and Roanoke Catholic stopped Massanutten Military on the Celtics' 19-yard line late in the game to preserve a 20-16 Virginia Independent Conference high school football triumph at Victory Stadium.

Moyer scored one touchdown on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and Mark Buchy added an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter as Catholic (3-1) took a 14-0 halftime lead.

Alex Dickson returned the second-half kickoff 91 yards to give Roanoke Catholic a 20-0 lead.

Massanutten (0-2) came back behind quarterback Morris Graham, who rushed for two second-half touchdowns and finished with 97 yards on seven carries.
