HOT SPRINGS SENIOR EVENT SETS FIELD

The 10-man field for Tuesday's $500,000 Merrill Lynch Senior Shootout Championship at The Homestead in Hot Springs has been set.

The following Senior golfers will compete: Dave Stockton, Jim Colbert, J.C. Snead (of Hot Springs), Graham Marsh, George Archer, Jim Albus, Tom Weiskopf, Hale Irwin, Larry Laoretti and Bruce Crampton. Tom Wargo is the alternate.

Eight of the 10 scheduled players ranked among the top 19 money winners on the Senior PGA Tour entering the weekend's Brickyard Crossing event. Wargo was 11th. Weiskopf is the 1995 U.S. Senior Open champion.

The Shootout begins at 11 a.m. on the par-70 Cascades course and is free to the public, with a $10-per-vehicle parking charge at The Homestead.

The format has 10 players playing the first hole, with the highest scorer on each hole eliminated until two players remain to battle on No.9 for the $130,000 top prize.

The event will be taped by ESPN for airing on Christmas afternoon.

A private pro-am involving some of the scheduled Senior players and corporate clients is scheduled at the course today.
