BURTON, George Oliff, 69, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday morning, September 19, 1995 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Williams Burton. He is survived by one son, Bruce D. Burton, Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Burton, Tallahassee, Fla.; two grandchildren, Edward Thomas Burton and Sarah Marie Burton, both of Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Helen Anderson, Marion Pratt and Henrietta (``Boo'') Bass, all of Richmond. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Maury Cemetery in Richmond. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

DOBBINS, Doris Bishop, 63 of Christiansburg, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 in a Roanoke hospital. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Walt Simmerman with burial in Sunset Cemetery. In leiu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Auburn United Methodist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Richardson-Horne.

EVANS, Vergie, 81, of Pulaski, passed away Monday, September 18, 1995 in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born April 29, 1914 in Carroll County. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Hassell Keith, Winston-Salem, N.C., Patra and David Armbrister, Draper; son, Joel Evans, Bakersfield, Calif.; mother, Flora Sumner, Wytheville; sister, Canary DeBoer, Pulaski; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Private graveside service and burial will be Thursday, September 21, 1995, with Elder Sidney Rakes officiating. FIELDS, Lawrence Jr., 68, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, September 18, 1995. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Sherry Wilhelm Fields; two brothers, Elmer Fields, Tacoma, Wash., James E. Fields, Franklin, Ohio; five sisters, Polly Stamper, Dayton, Ohio, Opal G. Davis, Tacoma, Wash., Clara R. Hicks, Glendale, Ariz., Elizabeth J. Burlile, Waynesville, Ohio, Ella Marie Fields, Pomona, Calif. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 1995, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Roger L. Belton will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. GOGGIN, Delsie S., 70, of Rt. 1, Penhook, died Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at her residence. Mrs. Goggin was a daughter of the late Tom and Era Scott, was a Clerk in the Penhook Post Office for many years, and was an active and loyal member of Penhook United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, E. Chapman Goggin, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Johnny (Vera) Emerson, Danville, Mrs. Albert (Bessie) Goode, Martinsville, Mrs. Percy (Lucille) Shelor, Collinsville; two brothers, Curtis Scott, Rocky Mount, Raymond Scott, Boones Mill; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed McClain and Rev. Betty Daniels Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. HARRISON, Thomas Draper Sr., 57, of Lexington, died Sunday, September 17, 1995 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born September 20, 1937 in Martinsville, he was the son of Nell Draper Harrison Wingfield of Lexington and the late Ollie Woodrow Harrison. He was preceded in death by a son, Ollie David Harrison. He had been employed at Econo Lodge. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Thomas Draper Harrison Jr. and Jefferie Darrell Harrison, both of Virginia Beach, Michael Douglas Harrison, Lexington; a brother, Edward S. (``Ed'') Harrison, Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, one great-grandson; a special aunt, Yome O'Dell, Martinsville. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, at Lomax Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Will Hamric officiating.

HAYMAKER, Rebecca Frances Kidd, 71, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, September 19, 1995. She was a life-long member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Blaine Haymaker. Surviving are a husband, Carlton Luther Haymaker; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Jerry Strayve, Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton L. (Buddy) Jr. and Linda Haymaker, Simi Valley, Calif., Maynard H. and Debbie Haymaker, Moneta; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Lewis Kidd, Salem; two sisters, Mary Louise Philpott and Charlotte Hutchens, both of Roanoke; special aunts, Mrs. Ruth McClaugherty and Mrs. Elizabeth Ott, both of Roanoke. HUFF, Alletha Lucas, 85, of Christiansburg, died Monday, September 18, 1995 at her home. She was the widow of James Insley Huff and is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen I. and Phyllis Huff, Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Lucas, Christiansburg; one sister, Eula Igo, Blacksburg; grandchildren, Kimberly H. and David Smith, Stephanie H. and R.M. HYLTON, Mable Alice, 87, of Catawba, died Monday, September 18, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Wilbur Hylton, and is survived by her son, Paul E. Hylton, Roanoke; nieces, Marie S. and husband, Lindy Farmer, Catawba, Lois E. and Ed Dowdy, Roanoke County; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. PHILLIPS, Lloyd E., 57, of Roanoke, died Monday, September 18, 1995. He was an engineer with Volvo-G.M. in Dublin and was a member of Roanoke Lodge #284 Loyal Order of Moose. Mr. Phillips was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Surviving are his wife, Karen J. Phillips; children, Debbie DeShazer and husband, Vince of Denver, Colo., Scott L. Phillips and wife, Julie of Salem, Brett A. Phillips and wife, Peggy of Andrews Air Force Base, Rodney L. Phillips and fiancee, Tammy Spencer of Roanoke, DeAnna J. PRATT, Vance Wellington, 79, of Albuquerque, N.M., formerly of Floyd County, died Friday, September 15, 1995 in Albuquerque. Mr. Pratt is survived by his wife, Clara D. Pratt; three sisters, Stella P. Cochran and Zella Pratt, both of Roanoke, Clara P. Lawrence, Dallas, Texas; brother F. Kenneth Pratt, Payson, Ariz. ROUTT, Lorena, 79, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at Avante Nursing Home. She was the widow of Paul L. Routt Sr., and a past president of Wasena Garden Club and a member of the Elks Club. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra R. Goad, Roanoke; son, Paul L. Routt Jr. and wife, Carole, Roanoke; grandsons, William P. Goad Jr. and wife, Sandra, Roanoke, Paul L. Routt III, Roanoke; granddaughter, Carole Sue Routt, Roanoke. SINK, Robert Elmo, 86, of 327 Hershberger Rd., Roanoke,formerly of Eagle Rock and Covington died Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at the Friendship Health Care Center. He was born in Boones Mill on June 18, 1909, son of the late Mathais and Julia Flora Sink. He was a retired paper finisher for Westvaco and a member of the Boones Mill Brethren Church and served in U. S. Navy during WW II. He is survivedf by his wife of 62 years, Bessie Parker Sink, Roanoke; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Rachel and Russell Parrish, Boones Mill, and Frances and Rufus Weaver, Wirtz; a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Melva Sink, Newport News; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Rev. Addie Davis officiating. Interment to follow in the Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will rec eive friends Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

TURNER, Daniel Marshall, 66, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 1995, at his residence. He was a former employee of Vinton Weaving Mill and was predeceased by two sons, Tommy Turner and Daniel Turner. Surviving are his wife, Lena Payne Turner; one sister, Dorothy Turman of Stafford, Va.; one niece, Kathy Counts of Richmond; two nephews, Bruce Turman of Stafford, David Turman of Culpepper. WEST, Joseph Richard, 87, of Tampa Fla., formerly of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 16, 1995 in Tampa. He was a retired supervisor with the Roanoke City School Board, and was a member of Belmont Christian Church. Mr. West was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Marie Atkinson West. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene Lovell and Betty Lou West, Roanoke, Jack Beverly and Norma Louise West, Tampa, Fla.; sister, Eva Marie West Hoben, West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother, Mack A.
