RELIGION BRIEFS

CHURCH WOMEN UNITED, an ecumenical and cross-cultural organization seeking human betterment, will begin its seasonal meetings Friday at 10 a.m. with Fall Forum at West End United Methodist Church, 13th Street and Campbell Avenue Southwest. Dawn Field, representing the Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley, will speak. Those attending are asked to bring personal care and paper products for distribution to the needy.

A tea for prospective members is scheduled Oct. 8 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald House, 2224 S. Jefferson St. An evening meeting group will be considered at this time.

MELROSE BAPTIST CHURCH, 3520 Peters Creek Road N.W., is sponsoring a 6 p.m. Bible study, "Overcoming Anxiety and Conflict," on Sundays through Oct. 22 Participants are reflecting on Bible passages related to these feelings. Call 366-6631 for more information.

LOUDON AVENUE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, a Disciples of Christ congregation at 730 Loudon N.W., has scheduled a concert by the Willing Workers Singers of Radford. The Deaconess Board is sponsoring the 6 .m. concert on Saturday .

COLONIAL BAPTIST CHURCH in Blue Ridge will have revival services Sunday through Sept. 29 at 7 each night. Jim Delashmit, a full-time evangelist from Posen, Ill., will be the guest preacher. His services are based on his life as a Christian convert from drug addiction and gang terrorism in St. Louis. A nursery will be open.

AN EARLY SERVICE at 8:30 a.m. starts Sunday at Parkway Wesleyan Church, 3230 King St. N.E. The informal praise and worship time will end before the 9:15 Sunday school and does not affect the traditional 10:45 a.m. service.

A special children's program will be held Sunday concurrent with the late service.

The early service is the latest of several innovations used at Parkway Wesleyan since its relocation in 1988. An addition costing $500,000 recently was occupied to accommodate rapid growth resulting from Friend Day and other promotions.

SAINTS IN PRAISE of Staunton Avenue Church of God will present its first concert Sunday at 4 p.m. at the church, 1926 Staunton Ave. N.W.

ROANOKE VALLEY NON-DENOMINATIONAL MALE CHORUS will hold an organizational meeting Saturday, 2 p.m., Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W. Those unable to attend the meeting who are interested in joining may call 342-2763.
