HOKIES LOSE CB BANKS

With an 0-2 record and 17th-ranked Miami visiting Lane Stadium on Saturday, things couldn't get much worse for Virginia Tech.

Or could they?

The Hokies got some bad news Thursday when Antonio Banks, a starting cornerback, had arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. Banks, who was injured during practice Tuesday, likely will be sidelined for three to six weeks, school officials said.

Banks, who has nine tackles this season,will be replaced by two ``true'' freshmen - Loren Johnson and Pierson Prioleau.
