BROWN SET TO TEE OFF IN ROANOKE

Billy Ray Brown, a two-time PGA Tour winner, will be at Hunting Hills Country Club on Tuesday for the 14th annual APB Whiting Oil-Shell's Tee Off for Sight Tournament to Prevent Blindness of Virginia.

Brown will play a round of golf with the area's best players and conduct a clinic for the gallery at 5:30 p.m. He will be playing with champions from area clubs in an 18-hole medal-play match for the Gordon C. Willis Champion of Champions Cup.

Sponsors may buy a golf hole for $450 and have their names or ads displayed. For information, call Roby Roberson at 774-4429 or Don Reid at 982-4073.

In other sports in the region:

The Atlantic 10 Conference has added women's rowing as its 19th championship sport.

All of the league's institutions - including Virginia Tech - sponsor women's rowing except St.Bonaventure. The inaugural Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship Regatta will be April 27 in Philadelphia.
