BRAY, Oma Lee Blevins, 85, of Chilhowie, died Friday night, September 22, 1995, in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was the widow of Charlie Bray. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Ruby Swartz, Orlando, Fla.; one stepson, Bobby Bray, Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Blevins, Lansing, N.C., Mrs. Sara Jane Blevins and Mrs. Thelma Stamper, both of Chilhowie; one half sister, Mrs. Ina Gullion, Atkins; two brothers, Sylvester Blevins, Trenton, Ohio, Chalmer Blevins, Dublin; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Barnett's Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Otis Barker and the Rev. Avery Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in the Haw Orchard Cemetery, Grayson County, Va. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Home.

HAYDEN, Richard McKinley, (``Dick"") 59, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 23, 1995. He was employed by the Virginia Department of Corrections with 17 years of service. Mr. Hayden is survived by his wife, Jean S. Hayden; daughter, Kim Hayden, both of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Mimi Lou Hayden, Greensburg, Penn., Ray and June Hayden, Dravosburg, Penn.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bobby Dooley, Blue Ridge, Dutch and Johnny Gray, Roanoke, Ethel and Chuck Spencer, Stem, N.C., Dora and Bob Miles, Greensburg, Penn., Betty and Tom Baker of California; and a number of nieces and nephews. JARVIS, James Philip, Sr., 78, of Lexington, died Friday, September 22, 1995, at the home of his son, J. P. Jarvis, in Troutville. Born October 11, 1916, he was a son of the late James D. Jarvis and Cindy Miller Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis was a member of Timber Ridge A.R.P. Church and was retired from American Bakeries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha R. Jarvis, and daughter, Patricia H. Ridge. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, J. P. and Mary Jarvis, Troutville; a son-in-law and wife, David and Ann Ridge, Simpsonville, S.C.; five grandsons, David E. Ridge Jr., Simpsonville, S.C., Christopher J. Ridge, Greenville, S.C., J. Philip Jarvi s III, Auston Todd Jarvis and Andrew Kyle Jarvis, Troutville; four brothers, William Jarvis, Fairfield, Carlyle Jarvis, Buena Vista, Paul Jarvis and Curtis Jarvis, Lexington, and a sister, Vivian Macaulay, Charlotte, N.C. KIRMSE, E. James, 57, of Route 1, Montvale, died Thursday, September 21, 1995, at his residence. He was born in Kennan, Wisconsin on January 27, 1938, a son of the late Theodore Daniel Kirmse and Esther Lillian James Kirmse. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Edinger. He was Co-Founder and President of R & K Engineering, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Laura Lindberg Kirmse; two sons, Edward James Kirmse, Roanoke, and Matthew William Kirmse, Montvale; three daughters, Victoria Louise Kirmse, Roanoke, Christina Adrienne Kirmse and Alexandra Elizabeth Kirmse, both of Montvale; one brother, Daniel Kirmse, Kennan, Wis.; five sisters, Mardell Ahrenholz, Janet Edinge r, both of Kennan, Wis., Dona Ermer, Hawkins, Wis., Joyce Bader, Phillips, Wis., and Judy Ashley, West Bend, Wis. MARTIN, W. Price, 83, of 1727 Oakwood Street, Bedford, went to be with the Lord at 2:20 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 1995. He was born in Bedford County on September 1, 1913, a son of the late William Penn Martin and Mary Magdalene Lafoon Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Calloway Martin, and two sisters, Huldah Hurt and Magdalene Montgomery. He was a retired Bedford postmaster, a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of Bedford Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Meador Martin; a son, Deland L. Martin, Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda M. and Ben W. Taylor, Bedford; a brother and his wife, Thomas M. and Virginia Martin, Bedford; two sisters, Pauline M. Nance, Moneta, and Mattie M. Gilkeson, Troutville, and two stepgrandchildren. McDANIEL, John Robert, (``Billy""), 83, of Route 6, Bedford, passed away on Friday, September 22, 1995 in a Lynchburg hospital. He was born in Bedford County on June 23, 1912, a son of the late Sam McDaniel and Minnie Carter McDaniel. He was retired from McDaniel & Sons Meat Packers and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Huddleston McDaniel; three sisters, Katherine McDaniel Nance, Virginia McDaniel Snead and Frances E. McDaniel, all of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, September 24, 1995, at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery by the Rev. Eugene Condrey and the Rev. RORRER, Adolphus Daniel, of Galax, died Saturday, September 23,1995 at Elder Care in Rocky Mount, Va. Age 84, born in Patrick County on March 28, 1911. Mr. Rorrer was retired from Galax Mirror Company. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ada Smith Rorrer, Rocky Mount; daughter, Margie Higgins, Glade Hill, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herman Daniel and Joyce Rorrer, Pulaski, Va., Dean and Zola Rorrer, Roanoke, Va.; one sister, Crystal Handy, Claudeville, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Mary Rorrer, Patrick Springs, Va.; six grandchildren, Kim, Lori, Eric, Becky, Bobby, and Doug; 12 great-grandchildren and two to be born. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Aldophus and Cora Handy Rorrer, two sisters, Ellen Plaster and Susie DeHart a nd two brothers, Edgar Rorrer and Lemley Rorrer, son-in-law, Robert Higgins, two grandchildren, Timothy Dean Rorrer and Dean Rorrer Jr. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel, Galax, where the family will receive family and friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Monta Vista Memory Gardens. SMITH, Stella Cumbow, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, September 23, 1995 in the Russell County Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Russell County, having lived in the Spring City Community most of her life. She was the last surviving member of the James F. and Ellen Cumbow family and was a Charter Member of the Spring City Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday School class many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walton E. Smith. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Roy Smith, Lebanon, Lowell Smith, Spring City and Jack Smith, Woodgate, N.Y.; three daughters, Jean S. Anderson, Marion, Mrs. Con (Nancy) Breeding, Roanoke, and Mrs. Alfred (Shirley) Campbell, Bristol; also surviving are ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Helen Rose. Funeral services for Stella Cumbow Smith will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday the the Spring City Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brent Logan and the Rev. George Doran officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, David N. Smith, Gregory A. Smith, Roy R. Smith Jr., R. Steven Breeding, Scott T. SPENCER, Robert Howard, 97, of Roanoke, died Friday, September 22, 1995, in a local nursing home. Mr. Spencer was a retired supervisor for the N&W Railway and a member of Villa Heights Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wives Rachel Smallwood Spencer and Arlene Stokes Spencer; two sons, Eugene F. Spencer and Robert H. Spencer Jr., and a granddaughter, Susan Dickerson. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Doris S. and John G. Dickerson, Roanoke; three sons and daughters-in-law, Cecil M. and Jean G. Spencer, Roanoke, William C. Spencer, Roanoke, James Lee and Katherine Spencer, Troutville; stepdaughters, Polly Stokes Klinebell and hu sband John, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, and Mary P. Thompson, Morocco; stepsons, Spurgeon Stokes and wife Betty, West Hartford, Conn.; and Oscar B. THOMAS, Elva Graham, 87, of Roanoke, died Friday, September 22, 1995 at her home. Born in Montgomery County March 20, 1908, the daughter of Ballard and Della Graham, she was the widow of Alvah M. ``Tobe"" Thomas and a retired teacher of Church Court Day Nursery. Mrs. Thomas and her husband were the former owners of Villa Heights Grocery. Surviving are her son and wife, H. Roger and Anne Thomas, Forrest; daughter and husband, Ann and Don Hawley, Roanoke; two granddaughters, Beth Burtner, Harrisonburg, Sara Hawley, Roanoke; a grandson, Ken Thomas, Greenville, S.C.; also five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Nell Cheatwood, Roanoke, Marie Richardson, Shawsville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel, 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 1995, with the Rev. James Milner officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. TUCKER, Joyce Ann Ailstock, 66, of Richmond, born May 23, 1929, the daughter of the late Guy O. and Haney M. Ailstock, died Saturday, September 23, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Robert Tucker; children, Rob of Radford, Thomas Tucker of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Anne Stilley of Charlottesville; four sisters, Jeanette Ennis of Clifton Forge, Geraldine Loving of Fairfax, Guyotha Cade of Clifton Forge, and Patty Lawton of Brusceton, Tenn.; a brother, Buck Ailstock of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Ryan, Kellie, James, Sean Tucker, all of Radford. Mrs. Tucker was a member of the First Christian Church of Clifton Forge, graduate of Clifton Forge High School, Class of 46, and attended Lynchburg College.
