HENEGAR, Susie Gillespie, 74, of Saltville, died Sunday, September 24, 1995, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. Mrs. Henegar was preceded in death by her husband, Broaddus C. Henegar. She was a member of McCready United Methodist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Buddy (Nancy) Pennington, Roanoke, Texas, Mrs. Carl (Linda) Chapman, Saltville, Mrs. Roy S. BRITTS, Peggy Jo, 64, of South Williamson, Ky., died Saturday, September 23, 1995. Born in Delbarton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late George H. and Stella Banks Britts. She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church. She is survived by four sisters, Joyce Ann Britts, South Williamson, W.Va., Mrs. York (Clara) Smith, Williamson, W.Va., Pansy Britts and Louise Britts, Roanoke, and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, September 25, 1995, at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel, Belfry, Ky., by the Rev. Franklin Hisle and the Rev. Rick Hisle. CHAPMAN, Katherine E., 83, of Saltville, died Saturday, September 23, 1995, in the Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Va. Mrs. Chapman was a member of the First Christian Church of God in Allison Gap, and a member of the Ladies Auxilary. She was retired from the Town of Saltville. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby E. and Barbara Chapman, Roanoke; and daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Joe Stamper, Marion; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Chapman will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 1995, in the D. R. Henderson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Neitch and the Rev. Bobby Briggs officiating. GOAD, Nellie Stanley, 81, of Fincastle, died Friday, September 22, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert and Catherine Bryant Stanley, and she was a member of the Wheatland Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, Dewey M. Goad; daughter and son-in-law, Corrine and Lowell Wood, Fincastle; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary B. and Kathy Goad, Villamont, Ronald R. and Rosalie Goad, Troutville, Michael M. and Cathy Goad, Lynchburg; five grandsons; two stepgrandsons; three granddaughters; one stepgranddaughter; one great-grandson; and three stepgreat-granddaughters. HAGA, Ernest, 77, of Route 3, Independence, passed away Sunday, September 24, 1995, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax. He was born on August 13, 1918, in Independence, t he Mountain View Community. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation with 16 years of service, and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Haga Cox. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Moxley Haga of the home; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Steve McLeod, Winston-Salem, N.C., Barbara Ann and Roger Cole, Sandra and Dr. Howard Halsey, Mouth of Wilson, Mary Jane and Randy Ferrell, Wytheville, Kathy Haga, Hohokus, N.J., Glenda and Charles Ward, Scottie and William Cox, Independence; five sons and daughters-in-law, Colen and Peggy Haga, Ronald and Sue Haga, Bill and Linda Haga, Thomas Haga, Independence, Jim and Suzanne Haga, Bland; a son-in-law, C. HALEY, Richard Clyde, Sr., 69, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, September 23, 1995. Mr. Haley served in the U. S. Navy during World War II, and served in the U. S. Army during Korea. He was a retired ironworker from Walker Machine and Foundry Co. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jr. and Becky Haley, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Kevin and Whitney Haley; also, several brothers and a sister. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park Tuesday, September 26, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Charles Hoffler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Waverly Place Baptist Church Children's Meals' Ministry. There will be no public visitation. Oakey's Roanoke Chapel is handling funeral arrangements.

HOLDREN, Maynard Edward, 77, of Vinton, died Sunday, September 24, 1995. He was born November 26, 1917, son of the late Abe and Berta Holdren and was preceded in death by two wives, Edna Mae Peters, Vivian Ponton, a daughter, Denice, two brothers, Shirley and Francis Holdren. Mr. Holdren was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church, Melrose Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Shrine. He was a retired engineer from the Norfolk and Western Railway, a veteran of World War II, having seen active duty aboard a merchant ship in the Pacific, European and Mediterranean areas. Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Donald W. ``Donnie"" Holdren, Roanoke, William E. ``Butch"" and Betty Holdren, Vinton; two grandchildren, Jimmy Holdren and wife, Williamsburg, Sharon Earlenbaugh, Vinton; a great-granddaughter, Stephanie Earlenbaugh; two sisters and brother-in-law, Elva Landsdown, Audrey and Bernard Cook, Vinton; a beloved cousin, Helen Mottey, Vinton; also two sisters-in-law, Ruby Holdren and Emily Whitehurst, Vinton. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 1995, with the Rev. G. Wilson Gunn and the Rev. C. Berkley Stevens officiating. Postal Service and is survived by her husband, Jesse Roscoe Huffman; two sons and daughter-in-law, Frank Ray Akers, Roanoke, Roy P. H. and Betty Christ Akers, Boca Raton, Fla.; three sisters, Bethel C. Sirry, Salem, Leonard C. Yearout, Miami, Fla., Pearl C. Morris, Newport News; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. JETER, Verona Mae Hurt, 87, of Hardy, died Sunday, September 24, 1995 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born May 19,1908, she was the daughter of the late Ned and Etta Martin Hurt. Surviving are her husband, William (Billy) T. Jeter, Woodhaven Nursing Home, Montvale, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Shirley Jeter, Bristol, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Leonard Cox, Bedford; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. JOHNSTON, Virginia P., (``Jenny""), 59, of 890 Hermosa Drive, Pulaski, died Saturday morning, September 23,1995, in the Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital, Jacksonville, N.C. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pulaski. Among her many activities, she was a member of the Pulaski County Courthouse Renovation Committee and an active member of the Pulaski County Humane Society. Mrs. Johnston was a graduate of Radford College and taught school for thirty years in Nelson County, Charlottesville, Norfolk and Pulaski County. Surviving are her husband, John A. Johnston, Pulaski; son and daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Pennie Johnston, Charlottesville; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry C. Pruner, Marion; sisters, Mrs. Linda P. Kendall, Forrest, Mrs. Rose P. Reed, Virginia Beach; brothers, Henry C. Pruner Jr., Triangle, James M. Pruner, Zuni; sister-in-law and spouse, Mr. & Mrs. James Shriver, Cary, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. RICHARDS, Alton Hooker, 70, of Glade Hill, died Sunday, September 24, 1995, at his home. Born on May 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Charlie and Eula Austin Richards. He was a lifetime member of Glade Hill Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Richards Matthews, and two great-grandchildren. SABAT, Phillip Wayne, 45, of Pearisburg, died Sunday, September 24, 1995 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sabat was an employee of the Harris General Mechanical Co. He was a veteran of the Unites States Marine Corp and was a veteran of Viet Nam. He was born in Pearisburg on May 15, 1950 and was a son of the late Tony Sabat and Eunice Martin Sabat. He is survived by his wife, Janice Sabat, Pearisburg; one daughter, Christie Sabat, Pearisburg; two brothers, Jan Sabat of Pennsylvania, Greg Sabat of Radford; two sisters, Janice Lee, Virginia Beach, Donna Marshall, Radford.
