`Walk to Remember'

BLACKSBURG - The Grief Support Group for parents who have experienced the death of a child will have "A Walk to Remember" Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at Nellies Cave Park.

All parents who have lost a child, regardless of age, may participate. Siblings, grandparents and friends are invited.

The Grief Support Group is sponsored by the Crisis Pregnancy Center of the New River Valley and holds its meetings at the third Monday of each month. For more information, call Mary Jo LaPrade at 382-9471.

AAUW days

BLACKSBURG - American Association of University Women members will provide information on AAUW, sell Georgia pecans, New Hampshire maple syrup and calendars for the educational foundation program on Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bonomo's in Blacksburg. The educational foundation provides funds to advance education and research, foster equity and self-development for women, and support positive change in society.

Science camp for girls

BLACKSBURG - There will be an organizational meeting

Tuesday, Oct. 3, at noon at the Museum of Natural History to talk about starting a summer science camp for girls in Blacksburg.

Topics will include the age of the girls, the length, location and size of the camp, and its curriculum. The input from the meeting will be used for a grant proposal by the museum. The camp would target middle-school girls. Call Kathy Terleskey at 552-1860.
