BLACKSBURG - The town's Hand-in-Hand Playground is three years old, and everyone is invited to the birthday party.
Friends of the Playground, the group overseeing the innovative play area, completed in October 1992, will have a party, featuring cake, games, face painting and jugglers, Sunday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m. at the playground.
On sale during the party will be fence pickets for $25. Buyers can paint their or somebody else's name on them, with fewer than 12 letters.
The money will be used for playground maintenance. Recent upkeep has included new mulch, sanding, sealant, and minor repairs. Call Judy Wright at 951-7283.
