COOK, Jean Atkinson, 68, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, September 25, 1995, in a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church and was active in the Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs. Preceding her in death were her parents, Clara and Bill Atkinson; a daughter, Becky Cook Thomas. Surviving are her husband, Bernard C. (Buck) Cook; a son, William B. Cook; and daughter-in-law, Anne Panella; a daughter, Terry Cook; and son-in-law, Joe Praskievicz; a daughter, Cindy Cook; five devoted grandchildren, Riley Horton, Myra Horton, Nicole Horton, Kira Cook, Conan Cook, all of Blacksburg; Diana Dagher; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Dagher, May Dagher, Hope Dagher, all of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Phyllis Atkinson, Virginia Beach, Jimmy and Mildred Atkinson, Roanoke; cousins, Janet and Bob Craighead, Salem; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Priscilla Cook, Richmond, Becky and John Locke, Roanoke, Annie Aldridge, Salem; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Dr. F. Tupper Garden officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. DAVIS, Charlita Mise, (``Cheri'), 43, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, September 22, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maynard and Marceline (Bebe) Mise. She is survived by a son, James Davis IV, and his wife, Marilyn; a devoted sister, Pamela Price; paternal grandmother, Alva Mise; two grandsons, James V and Joshua Davis; stepgrandson, Derek Kasey; several aunts, including devoted aunt, Jeri Dudley; three uncles, including devoted uncle, Marvin Poindexter; three devoted nephews, Martinez, Montegus and Mack Price; great-niece, Martiqua Peoples; several cousins, including devoted cousins, Neil Dudley and wife, Helen, Karen Miller and husband, Roy; special devoted friends, Kathleen Grey, Tammy Jackson, Regis Clements and Barbara Franklin; many other special relatives and friends. DONNELLY, Laretta Hylton, 84, of Willis, passed away Monday, September 25, 1995 in a Salem Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Harold M. Donnelly of Willis; two sons and one daughter- in-law, Harold (Jack) Hylton, Willis, Wayne and Zelwood Donnelly, Floyd; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauleda and Angus Dunn, Staunton, Kate and W. J. Boone of Willis; a sister-in-law, Dora May Hylton, Amissville; five grandchildren, Sandra D. Johnson, Michael W. Donnelly, Susan D. Board, Tracie D. Evans, Wendy D. GIBSON, Christine Virginia, 74, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 24, 1995. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, and was the widow of Jonathan Gibson. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Shirley G. and Charles P. Wray, Troutville, JoAnn E. Payne, Roanoke; grandchildren, Dale W. Wray and his wife, Pamela, Richmond, Bruce D. Wray, Blue Ridge, Deborah L. Heath, Jonathan L. Payne, both of Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth and Matthew Bruce Wray; two brothers, James Sterle Cooper, Moneta, Charles R. Cooper and his wife, Ruby, Roanoke; sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Gibson, Roanoke; a devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Herman and Jane Gibson, Roanoke. GILLENWATER, Leonard, 88, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, September 24, 1995 in Radford Community Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Jeanette W. Gillenwater; one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Jr. and Hong Cha Gillenwater, Riner; two daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte Ann and Douglas Gilmore, Christiansburg; Thelma Joyce Gillenwater, Roanoke; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grand-children. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jerry Shepherd, with burial in Den Hill Cemetery. GRANT, Katherine Elizabeth Hewitt, (``Kathy""), 74, of 2648 Clover Street, Salem, died Sunday, September 24, 1995, in the Richfield Nursing Home in Salem. Mrs. Grant was born March 31, 1921 in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Wilbur E. and Virginia Shea Hewitt. She was secretary for First Virginia Bank of Salem, retiring after 6 years. She was a former secretary for Sloan Kuykendall of Winchester and for the Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital of Martinsburg, West Va. Mrs. Grant had a dual membership with the Order of the Eastern Star, McKinley Chapter 19 in Winchester, Va. where she was a member for over 50 years and with the Salem Chapter 161 of Salem. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Salem. Her husband, David E. Grant, whom she married November 25, 1942 in Martinsburg, West Va., has preceded her in death. Surviving is a son, Wilbur E. Grant of Salem; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hebron Cemetery, with the Reverend H. Eugene Baker officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery. McKinley Chapter 19 of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a service 7 p.m. Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m.

HAYES, Mary Elizabeth, 71, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, September 25, 1995. She was the widow of Howard L. Hayes and retired from the Elizabeth Arden Division of Eli Lilly. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Catron Johnson of Salem; and a grandson, Robbie James of Roanoke. Surviving are her daughters, Sylvia Catron Gray, Hopewell, Norma Catron Faulkner, Roanoke; son, Glenn E. Hayes, Marion; grandchildren, Judy Furrow, Salem, Linda Johnson, Catawba, Sharon Johnson, Barbara Jessee, both of Salem, Rhonda Fitzgerald, Richmond, Keith Fitzgerald, Shawn Gray, both of Hopewell; great-grandchildren, Terah, Patricia, Briana and Billy. HUDSON, Mary Jean Morris, 59, of Hardy, died Sunday, September 24, 1995. MARTIN, James Wilber, 86, of the Clover Hollow Community in Newport, died Sunday evening, September 24, 1995 in Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Newport on September 5, 1909, he was the son of the late Letitia Lafon and James Dell Martin. He was the husband of the late Carmen Doyle Martin and was a member of the First Christian Church of Newport, and was retired from the RAAP. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Elva and Frank Douthat of Newport; a grandson and fiance, Tim Douthat and Rebecca Dayhoff, both of Christsiansburg; granddaughter, Lisa Douthat of Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 1995 in the First Christian Church of Newport with the Rev. Roger Henderson and the Rev. James D. Lowe officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Hollow Cemetery. MARTIN, Margaret A., 76, of Roanoke, died Sunday, September 24, 1995, in a Roanoke hospital. She was a retired Guidance Counselor at Patrick Henry High School. MOORE, Harry Dwight, 42, of Lexington, died Saturday, September 23, 1995 in the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. Mr. Moore was born November 13, 1952 in Lexington, a son of Gary D. Moore Jr. of Buena Vista and the late Evelyn Plogger Moore. Surviving besides his father are one daughter, Teresa Moore, Florida; two brothers, Gary A. Moore, Natural Bridge, Danny M. Moore, Richmond; two sisters, Evelyn Gail Wickham, Richmond, Nancy Carol Burnett, Providence Forge. PILLOW, Robert A. Jr., 84, of Roanoke, died Sunday, September 24, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy P. Pillow. Mr. Pillow was retired from the U. S. Army Reserve with the rank of Lt. Col. and also retired from Catawba Hospital. Surviving are his children, Richard A. Pillow, Carolyn Pillow Mayhew; three grandchildren, Robert Brian Pillow, Jennifer Lynn Mayhew, Jonathan William Mayhew, all of Richmond; one brother, Dr. Randolph P. Pillow, Seattle, Wash. PRICE, Neva Jean, 39, of Wirtz, died Sunday, September 24, 1995. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul B. Voytko, and was employed by Ippy's Restaurant. Ramey, both of Boones Mill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Penny Voytko, Wirtz, Troy and Lisa Voytko, Woodbridge; her nieces and ephews, Lauren, Jeff, Jordan, Morgan, Tyler, Somer, Callan, Jillian, Sarah, Natalie, Sara, Joy, and a soon to be born nephew. Mr. Smith was born February 6, 1934 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late John Ott Smith and Evy Belle Link Smith. Surviving are one sister, Marjorie E. Smith, Buena Vista; special friends. TOMLINSON, Barbara Catherine, 71, of Big Island and Bedford, died Monday, September 25, 1995 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born February 24, 1924 in Bedford County; a daughter of the late Wiley E. Tomlinson and Hallie Glass Reynolds Tomlinson. She was a graduate of Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and for many years was Registered Nurse and Office Manager for Dr. W. V. Rucker in Bedford. She was a member of Bedford Christian Church and was preceded in death by her sisters, Mattolyn Olivia Tomlinson, Ethel Mae Tomlinson Arrington, and her brother, Hugh Carroll Tomlinson. She is survived by a brother, Jack W. Tomlinson; and a sister, Mildred T. Johnson, both of Big Island; two nephews, Gary W. Tomlinson of Big Island and J. Glenn Tomlinson of Forest; als o a grand-niece, Carrie Anne Tomlinson and grand-nephew, Christopher Glenn Tomlinson. WATTS, Trula Tazwell Gillispie Kirk, 94, of Vinton, passed away at Berkshire Health Care Center, Sunday, September 24, 1995. She was the widow of Felix Edward Watts and was preceded in death by a son, Allie Kirk. Surviving are four daughters, Ella Sue (Susie) and husband, Roy Amos of Vinton, Mamie K. Parker, Irene K. and husband, Walter E. Boothe, Iva Louise K. Ferris, all of Goodview; one son, Walter Ray and wife, Terry Kirk, Goodview; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Hill Wade, Vinton. WILLIAMS, Carol Hart, 79, of the Edgewater Drive Section of Cedar Bluff, Va., died Sunday morning, Septem ber 24, 1995, at her home. She was born in Glen Brook, Connecticut, and was a daughter of the late William Dickinson and Lavinia Sands Hart, both Connecticut natives. She was a 1937 graduate of Smith College and a 1938 graduate of Katherine Gibbs School of New York City. She had made her home in the Cedar Bluff area the past 53 years and was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Richlands. She was a charter member of the Cedar Bluff Garden Club and the Richlands Intermediate Woman's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Reece Williams Jr., and one son, Mr. William Reece Williams III. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs.. Charles E. (Diana) Green of Tazewell, Mrs. Jake (Anne) Welch of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Bruce K. (Carol) Hall of Herndon; one sister, Mrs. Douglas (Lois) Coleman of Long Lake, Minn.; one brother, Mr. William Dickinson Hart Jr. of New Canaan, Conn. Ten grandchildren also survive. A memorial service for Mrs. Carol Hart Williams will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. Tom Mustard officiating. Honorary Pall bearers will be: Dave Stanton, Earl Bowman, Bill Jackson, C. M. Hunter Sr. and Dr. James H. McVey. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
