The town's Police and Fire departments report the following activity:

Robbery-abduction: Blacksburg police are investigating a reported abduction and robbery at gunpoint of a man who was forced to withdraw money from an ATM machine early Tuesday.

The man told police that after he was abducted and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash, he was taken to an ATM to take out more money. The man was assaulted, then released several minutes later in Montgomery County.

House fire: The Blacksburg Fire Department responded to a house fire at midnight Sunday in the 900 block of Clay Street. Fire broke out in a wall behind the fireplace, causing about $6,000 damage to the home owned by Gary Pickrell. Fire Chief Keith Bolte said the fire started in a metal flue pipe. There were no injuries.
