James River (0-8 overall, 0-2 district) cut Parry McCluer's lead in the waning moments behind Julie Firebaugh and Heather Vines, who scored six points each in the quarter.
With nine seconds remaining and the Knights three points from overtime, the Blues fouled. James River missed both free throws, but rebounded the ball and managed two failed put-back attempts before batting the ball out of bounds with two seconds on the clock.
Parry McCluer (5-4, 2-1) inbounded the ball to leading scorer Lindsey Coleman, who was fouled and sank both of her free throws to ice the victory. Coleman finished with a game-high 17 points, nine of which came on 3-pointers, and seven assists
Firebaugh led the Knights with 13 points and Vines finished with 11.
Lord Botetourt 65, Blacksburg 44: Sarah Hicks scored 13 of her game-high 27 points in the second quarter as the Cavaliers remained unbeaten with a non-district victory over the Indians in Daleville.
Hicks finished with 19 in the first half as Lord Botetourt (11-0) opened a 13-point lead. Teammate Sara Moore added 19 points, including two 3-pointers.
April Rogers led Blacksburg with 14 points - all in the first half.
Glenvar 61, Craig County 25: The Highlanders forced 22 turnovers, hit 20 of 32 free throws, and cruised to the Pioneer District victory on the Rockets' floor.
Erica Hale scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half and made six of eight free throws to lead the Highlanders (4-5, 3-0). Laura Nelson's seven points topped Craig County (0-7, 0-3).
