Sponsored by Roanoke's Harrison Museum of African American Culture, the festival is a showcase of the culture of people of African descent. Activities range from performing and visual arts to ethnic foods to an Afrocentric vendors' market.
There will be two stages for entertainment - the main stage and the childrens stage. The main stage line-up includes jazz by Inner Rhythms, blues by Sweet Dreams and Stormin', dance by United Joyfully in Movement Arts, and gospel with The Edwards Family and Spirits of Joy. A Greek step show, fashion and talent events will also be held on the main stage.
Pecan and Willie Webster, a ventroloquist act, will perform on the childrens' stage. There also will be storytelling and various art activities.
