Lord Botetourt took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter on two Wesley Cox touchdown runs.
The first costly fumble came at the Rockbridge County 15-yard line on a punt by the Cavaliers, and Lord Botetourt capitalized with a touchdown to make the score 20-7.
After the Wildcats closed to 20-13, Botetourt returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Rockbridge County drove to the Cavaliers' 30 on its final possession before fumbling to end the threat.
Cox led Lord Botetourt with 116 yards on 23 carries.
Jimmy Emore powered the Wildcats' offense with 120 yards on 17 carries.
Radford 35, Fort Chiswell 20: Michael White had 208 all-purpose yards for the Pioneers, but the Bobcats' Derrick Chapman was just as effective, scoring three touchdowns and leading Radford to a non-district victory in Fort Chiswell.
Chapman scored the first touchdown on a 52-yard pass from Tremond Hale, but White came right back with a 98-yard kickoff return. Too many turnovers spelled doom for the Pioneers (2-3).
A 61-yard touchdown run by Larnell Lewis on the last play of the first half gave Radford (4-1) the momentum it needed to take control.
Bath County 19, Covington 0: Ivan Franklin rushed for 108 yards and scored two touchdowns as the Chargers, the fifth-ranked team in Group A, rolled to a Pioneer District victory over the Cougars in Hot Springs.
Jamie Carroll carried for 184 yards to spark Bath County (4-0, 2-0), and the Chargers finished with 304 yards of total offense - all on the ground. Bath limited Covington (2-3, 0-1) to 92 yards of total offense.
Franklin scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter to make it 6-0 and added the Chargers' final touchdown with a 9-yard run in the fourth period. Carroll scored on a 4-yard run in the final quarter.
Grayson County 28, Narrows 24: Both teams had kickoffs returned for touchdowns as the Blue Devils downed the Green Wave in a Mountain Empire District battle in Independence.
In the first quarter, Grayson County's Chad McMillian took a kick 79 yards for a score. Narrows' David Turner retaliated in the third quarter with a 92-yard kickoff return.
Quarterback Chad Shaffner rushed 13 times for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Grayson County (2-3, 2-0). Joey Swaha had nine carries for 96 yards and one touchdown.
Turner scored 20 of 24 points for Narrows (1-3, 0-1). In addition to his kickoff return, he had a 3-yard scoring run, a 1-yard run and a two-point conversion reception.
Narrows led 16-14 at halftime, but Swaha scored from 35 yards early in the third quarter to put Grayson up 20-16. After Turner returned a kickoff, Grayson's Ernie Pritchard had an 11-yard touchdown run to finish the scoring.
Grayson then held on in the fourth quarter, stopping Narrows on two key fourth-down plays.
E.C. Glass 54, Franklin County 10: The Hilltoppers rolled up 392 yards rushing to overwhelm the Eagles in a Group AAA non-district game.
Chris Mathews rushed for 193 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries, and quarterback Andre Kendrick rolled for 132 yards rushing on seven carries with a pair of touchdowns.
Franklin County (1-3) made a game of it for a half, trailing 21-10 at intermission after Gray Hodges hooked up with Brandon Smith on a 9-yard touchdown pass.
E.C. Glass (4-0) scored three touchdowns in the third quarter, and Kendrick added one on the first play of the final quarter to put the game out of reach.
Shawsville 21, Floyd County 12: Jett Mars caught a 5-yard touchdown pass and gave the Shawnees the lead for good with a 50-yard fumble return in the third quarter to lift Shawsville to a Three Rivers District victory over the Buffaloes in Floyd.
After Craig Reed ran for a 35-yard touchdown to give Floyd County a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, Shawsville's Chris Graham hit Mars with a 5-yard pass to tie the score in the second period.
Mars put Shawsville (2-2, 1-0) ahead by stripping a Buffaloes ball carrier and running 50 yards for a touchdown.
Nick Wohn scored on a 43-yard run for Floyd County (0-5, 0-3), and Shawsville's Scott Holliman capped the victory with a 7-yard scoring run.
Salem 54, Alleghany 13: The Spartans built a 33-0 lead through one quarter and cruised past the Mountaineers for a Blue Ridge District victory in Low Moor.
Chris Huff scored a pair of touchdowns and Gussie Vaughan rushed for 86 yards and a score as the Spartans (4-0) amassed 342 yards of offense.
Alleghany (0-5) was plagued by a pair of turnovers in the first quarter, both of which led to Salem touchdowns. One was a fumble that Rusty Howell returned 36 yards for the first points of the game. Howell also scored on a 3-yard run for the Spartans.
Oliver Jordan and Bernie Cooper had touchdowns for Alleghany, Cooper on a 55-yard run.
Auburn 14, Galax 0: Kenny Wojziechowski's 80-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter highlighted the Eagles' non-district triumph over the Maroon Tide in Riner.
Auburn (3-2) also got a 10-yard touchdown run from Conrad Hughes.
Galax's record fell to 0-5.
Fieldale-Collinsville 35, Patrick County 19: The Cavaliers remained unbeaten with a Piedmont District victory over the Cougars in Collinsville.
Delvin Joyce led Fieldale-Collinsville (4-0, 3-0) with 93 yards on eight rushes. Terrill Parker had 115 yards on kickoff returns, one a 75-yard touchdown to open the game.
Jamin Foster picked off three passes to spark the Cavaliers' defense.
Ray Hylton led Patrick County (2-2, 1-2) with 115 yards on 21 carries.
Martinsville 34, Tunstall 16: The Bulldogs held the Trojans to 101 yards - 11 in the first half - as Martinsville cruised to a Piedmont District victory in Dry Fork.
Manti Venable led Martinsville (3-1, 3-0) with 155 yards on 15 carries, and quarterback Roger Martin threw two touchdown passes to Leander Preston.
The Bulldogs' first three touchdowns were set up by Tunstall turnovers. The Trojans (1-3, 0-3) finished the game with 27 yards on 27 carries.
Rural Retreat 52, Castlewood 6: The Indians ran roughshod over the Blue Devils, piling up 380 yards on 39 carries on the way to a Hogoheegee District victory in Rural Retreat.
Kenny Lethco, C.J. Patton and Ronnie Six piled up 203 of those yards on a combined 22 carries, and reserve Greg Burton added 72 on three carries.
After being held to minus-2 yards in the second quarter, the Indians (3-2, 2-1) picked it up again, with Ben Rosenbaum totaling eight tackles, causing a fumble, batting down a pass and sacking the Castlewood quarterback.
T.J. Hall had the highlight of the night for the Blue Devils (1-4, 1-3), an 87-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter.
Bassett 33, Laurel Park 19 DeVonne Claybrooks scored four touchdowns to power the Bengals (2-2, 2-1) to a Piedmont District victory over the Lancers (1-3, 1-2) in Bassett.
Claybrooks, a senior halfback, rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. He caught two passes for 43 yards, including a 35-yard scoring strike from Claude Woods.
Lebanon 53, George Wythe 0: Gordon Holmes and Ryan Cowven scored two touchdowns apiece as the Pioneers shut out the Maroons in a Hogoheegee District matchup in Lebanon.
Holmes scored from 3 and 2 yards and finished with 56 yards on eight carries for the Pioneers (4-1, 3-0). Cowven scored from 65 yards and returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown. He finished with 100 yards on five carries.
Mark Edwards connected on five PATs.
Ed Smith gained 31 yards on 14 carries for George Wythe (0-4, 0-3).
