Students who participated include: Amanda Zeh and Emily Trivett, both from Auburn High; Suzanne Barnes, Jenni Beller, Jay Clark, Jennifer Clark, Karen Cox, Ashley Hughes, April Orange and David Sowers, all from Christiansburg High.

A Christiansburg Middle School teacher was selected as Outstanding Middle School Agriscience Teacher at the 69th Annual State Future Farmers of America Convention during the summer.

Dan Swafford was behind the reopening of the Agriculture Program at the middle school in 1992 with an agriscience curriculum. The program emphasizes soil and plant science and utilizes the only remaining facility of the old agriculture program - a small greenhouse.

Some research projects that students conducted at the school last year included a pepper variety study and a study comparing various colors of greenhouse coverings.
